Positive Behaviours for Learning
At SFS, our PBL (Positive behaviours for learning) school wide expectations are:
Respect,
Responsibility and
Kindness
The whole school has a PBL lesson on a Monday at 1pm. The focus for our lesson this week was on RESPONSIBILITY in the LEARNING SPACE, Be safe (Keep hands, feet and objects to ourselves). The children understood how important it is for everyone to feel safe when we are at school. They learnt about giving others personal space and played games to explore this.
Here are two of our lucky PBL raffle winners from last Friday.
Harmony Day 2023
We will be celebrating Harmony Day at SFS on Thursday 21st of March.
What is Harmony Day?
It is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community.
Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.
Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.
The teachers will be exploring this with the children at school on this day and the children will complete learning activities linked to this. We will have a whole school Prayer service and the choir will singing some songs, at 9am in the school hall. Our families are most welcome to attend this Prayer service. Let’s celebrate the rich cultural backgrounds of all our SFS families!
We are asking all families to please email a photo of your family to your child’s class teacher. We are so proud of our multicultural school and we would like to share some images of our families as part of our whole school prayer service or you can send me a copy rlenko@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au
Children are encouraged to wear clothes that represent their families cultural background or the colour orange, the colour used to represent Harmony day. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.
If you have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please do not hesitate to contact me.
