Keeping everyone safe around ENPS

Moonee Valley City Council – Better Moves Around Schools

Moonee Valley City Council (MVCC) encourages students and families to develop healthy habits by walking or cycling to and from school where possible, and provides you with handy online maps to assist your planning. MVCC's online maps include:

  • Active Paths – the Active Paths initiative aims to make it easier for students who want to ride, walk, scoot or skate to school. MVCC works with schools to identify paths to school which are direct, safe and fun and based on where students live. Footpath decals will guide students along the way.
  • Park and walk paths –  MVCC knows some students live too far to walk to and from school so they’ve identified locations where there are usually parking spots so you can walk part of the way.
  • School drop off and pick up zones – Thunder and lightning? Time poor? MVCC knows there are days when you’ll need to take the car. They have marked out drop off and pick up zones that have improved traffic flow and create a safer environment for children to be dropped off and picked up at school.

The maps will be updated as routes are added or changed.

There are many benefits to walking, riding or scooting to school. Not only can children develop road safety awareness, physical and social skills and improve their overall health, but traffic congestion will also be eased around school and greenhouse gas pollution lowered. Let's all work together and encourage walking, riding or scooting to school!
