Mask Making in Year One

It was a glorious day on Monday for spending our Arts time outside!! The Specialist areas of Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Mandarin are getting together.

Students in Year One enjoyed the sunny weather whilst learning about Traditional Chinese Opera Masks, the symbolism of colours, shapes and lines and the concept of Symmetry.

Students reflected on the way colours make them feel and used this understanding to design and create a Chinese Opera Mask for themselves. Later on, the students will use their creations to develop a short performance to perform to their peers.

Below are just a few of the photos we took of the artists in action and their artworks in the making. Enjoy!!
