Year 8 Science

Cell Organelle Pizzas

On Monday 4 March, the Year 8 Science students spent the lesson in the Food Tech kitchens in a delicious twist on their usual biology lesson on cells.

After doing some research and preparation the previous week, the students recreated both plant and animal cells in the form of pizza with the toppings chosen to resemble the various organelles.

There was a variety of toppings including salami, cheese, olives, capsicum and more controversially pineapple to represent the nucleus, mitochondria, ribosomes and other organelles. The pizzas were labelled, checked and then happily eaten by the students who have already requested more food related activities next term. We will keep you posted!
