Division 1 Men

The Division 1 Men lost a tight and hard-fought match against Rams 0 - 1 in the semi-final last Sunday evening.  The bonus of finishing in the top two is a further chance this week, when we take on the Bulls in the Preliminary Final.

Our fast open play was frustrated by good defence, and we resorted to trying to do too much individually as we were unable to get quick passes away.  At times, we rushed ourselves, and these errors created some dangerous moments for our defence, but the defenders did their job well, and the Rams' early goal was the only score of the game.

We play again this Friday - a final chance for the whole team to play together, as Oscar Hawthorne will be in Vietnam, should we make the Grand Final, as will Dr Hawthorne.  There is much to play for this Friday night (and hopefully we can play the Rams again the following week, should we be successful this Friday).

Division 1 Women

It was a rough night on the field last Friday due to the horrible weather conditions, however pushed through the frostbite and our finals campaign got off to a cracking start with a 7-0 win over Coleraine.

Goals scored by Olivia Rees, Sophie Merrin, Skye Headlam and Abigail Henderson were some of the best we have seen all season.

Standouts for the match are Olivia Rees and Abigail Henderson, who played their best game of the season, improving dramatically every week and working hard on their skill development.

Every skill we have been working on in training is starting to show in our games, and we are improving every week. The Preliminary Final is this Friday night against Dunkeld White, and we must win in order to get to the Grand Final.

Please come and support your Division 1 teams this Friday from 6pm at Pedrina Park. Help cheer the College players into the Grand Final!

Term 4 Netball – Saturday mornings – Pedrina Park

Saturday morning Netball is back at Pedrina Park next term, and we need to register teams very soon.  I have sent a message on Teams seeking participants and I have also attached a document that can be printed, filled out, and returned to me (at my office) as an alternative.

We are always in need of Team Managers, Umpires and coaches, so if you are willing to help, I would love to hear from you.  Contact me at jogle@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au. We must fill these roles; otherwise, we cannot join teams.  There is a place on the attached form for this information as well.

South West Zone Shoot Noorat

Last week, the College Shooting Team travelled to Noorat to compete in the South West Zone School Shoot. Nearly 200 competitors from across the region took part, with each entrant shooting two rounds of 10 targets. The weather held for most of the day, but heavy showers and hail struck just as the final College squads were competing.

At the end of the day, our top squad secured victory in the five-person team event. Congratulations to Will Templeton, Braden Veale, Lincoln Brown, Taylor Hayley, and myself, who managed to win by just a few points and qualify for the State School Championships in Echuca.

On Monday, the team made the trip to Echuca , competing against other zone winners in two rounds of 15 targets. With sunny conditions, we finished with a total score of 114/150, placing 3rd overall. It was a fantastic experience, and the whole team enjoyed a great day out on the range.

Looking ahead, the team is preparing for the Hamilton GD Shoot this coming Monday, * September, where competitors from Years 9 to 12 will participate. We’re aiming to finish the season strongly and hopefully add a few more wins to our record.
