Building Excellence in Teaching Through Peer Observation

Did you know?

This term Kinross Wolaroi School is introducing a new Peer Observation Program. It's a simple but powerful idea: teachers visiting each other's clasrooms, sharing what works well, and learning new ways to bring out the best in their students. By working together in this way, our teachers are continually building their skills and keeping their teaching fresh and engaging. It's another way Kinross Wolaroi is making sure every child benefits from outstanding classroom experiences

At Kinross Wolaroi School, we know that exceptional teaching lies at the heart of every student’s success. To strengthen this commitment, the Senior School will launch the Peer Observation Program in Term 4, a key initiative designed to enhance professional practice and enrich the learning experience for all students.

The program is built on five pillars: supporting student learning, enhancing teaching practice, fostering professional development, building a culture of reflection, and creating a culture of continuous improvement.

Through structured lesson observations and collaborative feedback, teachers will have the opportunity to:

  • Observe and share effective teaching strategies across faculties.
  • Reflect on their own classroom practice with the support of peers.
  • Learn new ways to engage and inspire students of all abilities.
  • Contribute to a shared culture of professional growth.

This process is more than an internal review — it’s a living, ongoing cycle of improvement that places both student outcomes and teacher development at its centre. Teachers will work together across subject areas, using recognised professional standards, to ensure the highest quality classroom experience.

By investing in our staff in this way, Kinross Wolaroi is directly investing in its students. Parents can be confident that the Peer Observation Program reflects the School’s dedication to continuous improvement, collaboration, and excellence in teaching and learning.
