Last Thursday, our Beginner and Junior Bands came together for a special combined rehearsal. The Junior Concert Band began by performing for the Beginner Band, setting a wonderful example of musicality and ensemble playing. The two groups then joined forces to rehearse a variety of repertoire, creating a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our beginner students to play alongside more experienced musicians, who served as mentors and role models throughout the session. Mrs Shields and Mr Ryan were thrilled with the sound and progress achieved during the rehearsal.
We are looking forward to another combined rehearsal in Week 10!
In Week 10, Mrs Sinclair will be inviting all students who currently learn an instrument at school to perform a prepared piece for their peers during music class.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our young musicians to experience performing under pressure, while also allowing their classmates to appreciate the depth of musical talent we’re fortunate to have in the Junior School.
Students should have already discussed their performance piece with their tutors and are reminded to bring their instruments to their music lessons.
DPA, Friday 23 September, from 5:15pm to 6:15pm
We’re looking forward to our annual Strings Concert, which features performances by the KWS Junior School Beginner Strings, Junior School String Orchestra, Junior String Quartet, iStrings, Con Brio String Quartet and Chamber Strings.
Further information has been emailed to families.
Purchase Your Tickets For the 2025 Grand Piano Appeal before this Friday!
For nearly half a century, our Performance Theatre grand piano has been part of many students' memories, a quiet partner in rehearsals, assessments, and performances that shaped your time at school. Now, at age 40, its final chord is near.
In 2025, we are inviting our community to help us fund the purchase of a new grand piano. This new instrument will support the next generation of performers from Kindergarten to Year 12, continuing the proud musical tradition you helped build.
By contributing to the Grand Piano Appeal 2025, you’re not just donating an instrument, you’re investing in the next 50 years of music at Kinross Wolaroi School. Your support will ensure that students have the tools to develop their talents, find their voice, and experience the same musical magic that touched your own school days.
Whether you became a professional musician or simply carry music with you in your life, this is your chance to give back to a program that gave you so much.
Let’s keep the music alive for generations to come.
