Prefects' Update

From Grace Simpson, Head Prefect

Thank you. It’s been a privilege.

As the term draws to a close, we hosted our final KWS Catch Up, ending the year on a high note. What began as a simple game of musical statues quickly became a highlight of the term, with students from all year levels joining in the fun. The standout winner was Year 9 student Harrison Church, who impressed not only with his moves but with his words. When asked to share a few thoughts, Harrison confidently spoke about the importance of putting yourself out there and not being afraid to have a go, a true reflection of the KWS spirit. He summed it up perfectly: “Kinross gives us opportunities” and “you don’t know what you missed out on” by not being willing to participate out the front. A fitting end to a term of leadership, laughter, and community.

Last Friday at lunch, we held the annual Netball Girls vs Rugby Boys netball match, a fiercely competitive and entertaining event that drew an energised crowd. Congratulations to the girls, who came out on top for the first time in many years! A big thank you to Ms Reynolds and Ms Jones for umpiring the game and keeping the boys in line with firm but fair calls.

We’re also looking forward to the 4th Annual Kinroscars event, and can’t wait to see our Year 12s embrace their creativity and style with our ‘Vinnies prom’ theme. A fun, interactive night celebrating the unique talents, personalities, and unforgettable moments of our high school journey. Alongside Year 12 finalities, preparations for our annual Showcase are well underway, with all groups busily rehearsing and fine-tuning their performances to make the afternoon truly special.

It’s hard to believe our time at Kinross is coming to an end. It’s been amazing to see the return of classic school hairstyles this week, adding a nostalgic and fun touch to our final days. We’re looking forward to proudly passing the baton to the incoming 2026 Leadership Team during their Induction Ceremony. We wish you all the best and are excited to see what you will bring to your roles.

Finally, to the Kinross community, thank you. It’s been a privilege to serve as your student leadership team this year. As we approach graduation and prepare for the HSC, we want to encourage all Year 12 students to keep supporting one another and stay focused as we push towards the finish line. Best of luck, Class of 2025!

Over and out,

Grace, Nick, Xanthe & Ollie
