Japanese

Year 6 – KobanashiStudents have learned about “Kobanashi” with Junko Sensei.Kobanashi means “a little story” or “a short funny tale” in Japanese. These stories are usually just a few sentences long, and the goal is to make people laugh or smile at the end. You can think of them like mini jokes or riddles, but instead of just one punchline, they feel like tiny, playful stories.Students explored what kinds of props and music are used in Kobanashi and then presented their chosen stories to the class after lots of practice. Junko Sensei kindly shared the videos of their presentations with me, and I was blown away by how well they performed. Fantastic job, Year 6s!

Year 5 -WeatherStudents have been learning about weather conditions (sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy, stormy, and snowy) and temperature adjectives (hot, warm, cool, cold) in Japanese. They have also been practicing how to count numbers beyond 10.They were fascinated to compare the weather in Japan with the weather in Monty. Looking at photos I shared while I was in Japan, they were surprised to see how hot it was there and how cold it was here at the same time!

Now that it’s September and the warmer weather is (hopefully) beginning, the sakura trees are looking especially beautiful at MPS 🌸😊

Have a lovely school holiday!
