Prayer of the week 

Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of fathers and father figures who teach, protect, and love. May they be strengthened, encouraged, and blessed with compassion, patience, and joy. Let their efforts be honored and their burdens lightened. May families grow in understanding, forgiveness, and warmth

Let us plead to God to stop the pandemic of arms, small and large, which infects the world. May Mary, the Queen of Peace, help us to fulfil the prophecy of Isaiah:  ‘They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks’ (Is 2:4)

New Saint

Yesterday, the 7th of September, Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager who died in 2006 of Leukemia, was canonised by Pope Leo XIV in a ceremony at the Vatican. 

This special occasion has given "the next generation of Catholics a relatable role model who used technology to spread the faith and earn the nickname "God's influencer."
