Year Four Retreat Day

On Friday the 29th of August our Year 4 students and teachers participated in a grade Retreat Day based on Mary, the Mother of God. The Missionaries of Charity facilitated the first hour of the day. They focussed their teaching on the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary. Children from Year 4 created statues of each mystery and then we prayed a decade of the Rosary together. We are so lucky to have the Missionaries of Charity come into our school and teach us about our faith.

The rest of the day was spent learning about why Mary is so important to us and why we call her the First Disciple. The students and teachers sang songs, danced, played games and finished the day with making their own decade of the Rosary that they could take home. It was a very fun day and I enjoyed spending time with the Year 4 students and teachers.

Father's Day Breakfast

On Wednesday the 3rd of September we celebrated the Fathers and Father figures in our lives. The day began with a delicious BBQ breakfast run by our amazing PACE Committee.

We then held a very cute Liturgy for our Dad's in Kenna Hall, led by Year One students and their teachers.

On Friday the 5th of September, we finalised our Father's Day celebrations by holding a Father's Day Stall in Kenna Hall. All the children loved choosing a present for the special men in their lives. We thank the PACE Committee for all their hard work in making our Father's Day celebrations so meaningful.

RISE!

If you are in Year 6 this year please come to RISE! It is a fabulous experience for your child! Last week we welcomed Flynn Bennett (Youth Minister) to our school to invite our Year 6 students to attend RISE. The children asked many questions regarding this Youth Festival and there was an excited buzz in the air. If your child is at all interested in attending, please don't hesitate to contact me or scan the QR code on the poster below for more information.

Saint Carlo Acutis

Yesterday Pope Leo XIV canonised Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati in Rome. While the ceremony was in Italy, the celebration – and the lessons – reach right into Australian Catholic schools.

Carlo’s extraordinary life, although very short, has impacted millions of people, particularly young people. Carlo was born 3 May 1991 and died on 12 October 2006. He was only 15.

He was the only child of wealthy, educated Italian parents who were not particularly religious. Carlo first learnt about God through his nannies and tutors.

Even as a toddler Carlo showed amazing awareness of the love of Jesus and was drawn to attending Mass. He was educated in Catholic schools and showed kindness to those kids who were being picked on. He always defended them.

Carlo loved nature, soccer and was active in clean-up campaigns. He also loved video games and became a web designer to help at his local church and also to continue to spread the Word of God, particularly about the Eucharist. His parents were encouraged to attend Mass. He never shied away from spreading God’s love to everyone.
