At our school, the health and wellbeing of all is a top priority. When children are feeling unwell, the most caring step that can be taken, is to ensure they have the time and space to recover at home. Attending school while sick can make it harder for a child to learn and can also increase the risk of spreading illness to classmates and staff.
Coming to school while sick not only makes it harder for children to concentrate and enjoy learning, but it also increases the risk of spreading illness to others. By keeping unwell children at home, families play an essential role in protecting classmates, teachers, and the broader school community.
We also encourage students to show kindness and understanding towards classmates who may not be feeling their best. A culture of care and respect helps us build a school environment where everyone feels supported.
Working together as a TEAM, ensures our school remains a safe, respectful, and healthy place for every child to learn and grow.
Bon in the garden has been popping up in the school garden this term and what a difference she and her student helpers are making. Emma’s family have put up nets to stop those pesky birds pulling our young plants out and not giving us a chance to taste them.
Garden Club has been on a Wednesday at lunchtime, and this has been in competition with bike day. Riding a bike seems to be more fun, so we will look at changing Garden Club to another lunchtime to give more students the opportunity to participate.
There has been a few students participating and the amount getting done is amazing and greatly appreciated. Bon’s Garden Club has planted some spuds in bags, planted some nasturtiums around the peas, planted some onions and celery, put some strawberry plants in pots to sell at the twilight market and we also now have 2 blueberry bushes in the orchard.
Did you know? - Nasturtiums draw good and bad bugs to them. The bad bugs move away from the vegetable plants to the nasturtiums, then the good bugs will eat the bad bugs. Nasturtiums are also edible, you can eat the leaves and flowers. If you have to many nastursiums feed them to your chooks, they are a beneficial plant for chooks, acting as a natural dewormer, antibiotic, and source of vitamins A and C that boost the chookies immunity and overall health.
It really is fantastic when our whole school community get involved. We appreciate what you can bring to the TEAM, whether it be volunteering or brilliant ideas. We, as part of a great TEAM can make and are making a difference.
On Friday 29th August Atti and April represented our school at VicSpell. For those of you that don't know, this is an oral spelling competition. April was in the grade six group and came equal 5th and Atti was in the grade 5 group and came equal 3rd. Both students put in an amazing effort and represented our school really well. Thanks Atti and April for being outstanding TEAM players.
