Open Day and Night

9:30 - 10:30am and 5:00 - 6:30pm

Dear TPPS community,

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all members of our school community to our Open Day and Night at Templestowe Park as we celebrate Education Week. The Education Week theme in 2025 is ‘Celebration of Cultures’ which highlights the diversity of our communities and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school.

We invite our entire community to join us at our Open Day and Night to learn about how we celebrate and share the diversity of the TPPS community and the importance of every child feeling safe and welcome at school. Once again, we will set up activities in every classroom and students can collect an Open Night passport (one per family) and receive stamps as they visit all the different class and specialist rooms across the school.

A lucky family will be able to win a $60 voucher!

Open Morning - Thursday 15 May 9:30 – 10:30am

Come in and visit the engaging classrooms while our students are hard at work.  All families, grandparents, extended family are welcome!

Open Night - Thursday 15 May 5:00 – 6:30pm

Visit your child’s classroom and learn about the wonderful work they do every day!  Every family will receive a passport to be stamped as they visit different rooms across the school and participate in cultural activities from across the year levels.

All completed passports will be placed in a draw for a $60 Westfield voucher! There are also runners up prizes!

Take a look below for the exciting cultural activities in each classroom and Specialist area at our Open Night.

Prep - All visitors will be invited to decorate a hand to represent their background or culture. The hands will then be displayed on the Prep Deck as a celebration of all the different cultures that make up our community.

Grade 1 - Our Grade 1 students will be incorporating Maths into their activity by making a graph of all the different cultures in our community. Come and add to their graph!

Grade 2- Salam or G'day mate! Come and visit the Grade 2 classrooms and create a speech bubble with a welcome message from your culture.  These messages will then be displayed in the corridor.

Grade 3 - Do you know the flags of the world?  Come and test yourself in the Grade 3 classrooms.

Grade 4 - What continent were you born on?  Come to the Grade 4 classrooms to add to a giant pictograph and find out what continent we were all born in.

Grade 5 - Come and add your flag to our world map in the BER building!

Grade 6 - Families are invited to design their very own sports top representing their country of origin or adopted country.  A template and pencils will be provided.

Visual Arts Room – Join Ms Sumner and Mrs Conn in the Art room to contribute to a joint artwork of First Nations symbols that represent home and family. Families will be using water colours and crayons to create the masterpiece.

Performing Arts and Mandarin Rooms - Using the iPad app GarageBand, families will create a simple song using Chinese instruments such as the Guzheng, Pipa, and Erhu. After spending time in the Performing Arts room,  families can take a walk to Ms He's room and have a short practice on a real Guzheng instrument.

STEM R - Mr Van Der Pol and Ms Augello invite you to come and play the traditional Tiwi and Torres Strait Island games of Kolap and Kai. These games require persistence and teamwork.

We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday.

Happy Education Week!
