Principal's Report

Dear families,
FAREWELL
Sadly, this week marks Mrs Watt’s final time with us at Toolamba. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank her for her outstanding dedication to our school and the tireless work she has done in the area of Disability Inclusion. Mrs Watt has been instrumental in establishing important procedures and processes to support our students’ learning and wellbeing. These structures will ensure that the needs of all children will continue to be catered for. We wish her all the very best for the future and hope she stays in touch with the many friends and colleagues she has made here at Toolamba.
Until such time as we have a permanent replacement for Dani the contact for all matters related to Disability Inclusion will be me.
SCHOOL-WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOCUS
This week we will continue our school-wide Positive Behaviour focus of being inclusive and accepting of others. This message will be reinforced through classroom discussions and activities in the yard.
FROG BOG ACTIVITY
At every opportunity, our students can be found busily creating amazing structures in the Frog Bog. This space offers countless hours of creative and imaginative play, allowing students to explore, build, and collaborate in a fun and engaging environment.
NUMERACY
On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of working with some Grade 2 students on a numeracy activity focused on problem solving. The students used strategies such as:
• Looking for patterns
• Making a model
to help them work through and solve a worded problem. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm for learning.
MOTHER’S DAY STALL
Our annual Mother’s Day Stall was a wonderful success! A big thank you to our dedicated team of helpers who assisted with setting up and selling on the day — your time and effort are truly appreciated. The students loved having the opportunity to choose something special for their mums. Thank you also to everyone who kindly donated items for the stall; the fantastic selection of gifts made it an extra special experience for the students. The money raised was $1456.00, which is incredible!
MOTHER’S DAY BREAKFAST
As you can see by the photos our Mother’s Day Breakfast was very well attended. A big thank you to all of our students and fantastic staff who helped make it such a success. Students did an amazing job setting up and then packing everything away. Staff were at school before 7am to ensure everything was ready for the 7.30 start. It was lovely to have the opportunity to catch up with so many families this morning.
CURRICULUM DAY
Our Network Schools are having a common curriculum day on Monday 12th May. The theme of the day is Celebrating Student Capacity -Optimising Outcomes for Our Students presented by Nairn Walker.
Nairn Walker has worked across Australia and internationally, identifying potential, highlighting capacity, and increasing outcomes for individuals, schools, and communities.
Having spent 20 years as a licensed trainer with Dr Ruby Payne’s company providing Bridges out of Poverty and A Framework for Understanding and other Aha! Process trainings, she has now developed a strengths-based offering that draws upon this expertise as well as the research, methodologies and constructs gathered, developed and blended from many other places and many other authors.
Nairn’s focus now is on celebrating capacity: instilling all that she has learned over the course of her career to optimise outcomes for individuals and organisations in schools, workplaces, families, and communities.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Warm regards,
Heather
