Teddy Bear Picnic PLC1
On the 30th of April PLC1 had a class excursion to Victoria Park. We have really been enjoying reading ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ at school and are already lovers of an outdoor playground so what could be more fun than going out on a bear hunt in a new play space! Victoria Park had an upgrade in 2022 including the addition of a lot of accessible features so this felt like the perfect place to go exploring.
We left school early in the morning on the school bus with our teddy bears from home. Izzy loved the bus ride and chatted the whole way. Victoria Park is just a short drive away in Kew, so we didn’t have to wait too long to get there. Once we arrived, we met Marcus’ grandmother Mary, Vera’s mother Lisa and Vera’s aunt. We found a spot undercover to have morning tea while we scoped out all of the play areas on offer. We then took our teddy bears on the grass to sing some songs together. We love singing our ‘yes’ and ‘no’ song to warm our bodies up to talk to one another, and ‘heads, shoulders, knees and toes’ is a real class favourite! We then read ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ together. Vera pointed to the ‘bear’ symbol throughout the story- she knew exactly what was coming! After the book we took our bears out exploring the rest of the park. Mila enjoyed bouncing on the trampoline with her bear that had a beautiful knitted sweater. Izzy found lots of different surfaces to climb on and joined her friends on the trampoline too. Marcus and Vera enjoyed the swings with their family members. Mason took his bear exploring across the trampoline in his walker and then down the giant slide- he’s the bravest explorer out there! After all the fun in beautiful sunny weather we took our teddy bears back on the school bus go and have lunch.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended and helped us prepare for our excursion!
