Leadership Report

Welcome to Week 3! We have had a busy start to the term. Thank you to our amazing Fundraising Committee and volunteers for organising and running our Mother's Day stall. We are very grateful for all their time and effort in raising money for our school.
We are looking forward to our upcoming Movie Night on Friday the 13th of June, 2025. More information to follow.
Morning Circles
Morning Circles have been a Marion PS site-based inclusion for some time. They are truly beneficial in developing student connection and beginning the day with common, shared, and positive perspectives.

Morning Circles set the students up for success through the students knowing what the day will bring, reviewing classroom expectations, celebrating and sharing personal insights, and connecting with our school values and each another.
The Morning Circle process provides consistent and predictable routines, supporting home-to-school transition, allowing students to feel safe, reconnect with staff and peers, and begin the day afresh. It is an opportunity for teachers to check in with your student's well-being and respond accordingly.
The link below gives you more information of the Why behind the Morning Circle and its components, please see Berry Street link below.
Chess Club is now open on Fridays - come and join us in the library at lunchtime! Mrs Sprigg has had a wonderful start to her chess journey and has been most impressed at the knowledge of younger students who have embraced the opportunity. If you're unsure of whether the club is for you - see the benefits below.
- Chess enhances critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and memory. It encourages strategic planning and foresight.
- Playing chess requires focus and patience, skills that are beneficial in academic and personal growth.
- The club provides an opportunity for students to interact, fostering teamwork and communication skills.
STOP PRESS - future expansion of the lunch-time club initiative may include other activities such as drawing and card games.
Keep a look out for more details in the coming weeks!
SRC NEWS
In consecutive SRC meetings, our students have raised issues around litter in the yard. They are proud of their school and students are keen to work with staff and the community in developing yard clean up processes and proactive practices.
Limiting disposable packaging would contribute greatly to the amount of litter in the yard as well as our SRC helping in educating and reminding students to dispose of rubbish responsibly.
At Marion Primary School, we are putting Nude Food back on the menu! Nude Food refers to lunches and snacks that are free from disposable packaging. Instead of using plastic wrappers, bags, or foil, Nude Food encourages the use of reusable containers and wraps. This simple change can make a significant difference in reducing waste and as a bonus promotes healthier eating habits. With less packaging, there is less litter in our school yard. Nude Food helps keep our environment clean and safe for students to enjoy.
Action: Where possible let's go Nude Food!
Action: SRC leaders will chat with classes about the benefits of Nude Food.
Action: Over the coming weeks, the SRC will be developing posters to display in the yard encouraging students to dispose of litter responsibly.
Action: Students and staff will monitor the yard and arrange Emu Parades to keep our school clean.
We are looking forward to more exciting learning opportunities. As always please contact us if you have any queries or concerns.
