Inquiry Projects
As you would have seen from our recent Xuno Progress Reports, students in the senior team have commenced research for their term two inquiry projects. Focussing on an event that has shaped Australian history, students will work in pairs to construct a diorama which highlights their understanding of the event. We are asking for students and families to begin collecting materials that can be used for these dioramas. As always, there is no expectation to purchase anything and we are hoping to take a sustainable approach to gathering our materials.
E.g. cardboard rolls, fabric offcuts, crepe paper, paper cups, glitter, pebbles, sand, shoeboxes, cellophane, cardboard offcuts, dried leaves or plant cuttings etc
District Soccer
Our students participating in district soccer next Wednesday 14th May will be meeting at the Ballarat Regional Soccer Facility (Morshead) by 9.15am with the first game at 9.30am. Middle Years Team
We are thrilled to announce that the South Korean Lyncs Program will begin in the coming fortnight. This initiative will allow students to connect via video conferencing with peers from Australia’s neighbour: South Korea promoting global citizenship, intercultural understanding, and meaningful international friendships.
Our SAKGP (Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program) continues to be a tremendous success. Students are developing vital life skills, including safe knife handling, various cutting techniques, nutritional knowledge, and hands-on experience with delicious, healthy recipes.
Swimming lessons have also been going swimmingly! Students are building confidence in the water while learning essential survival skills and a range of swimming strategies. We still have three more lessons to go, and we’re looking forward to seeing continued growth and enthusiasm.
We would also like to acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of several Middle Years students who recently participated in the Cross Country. These students represented our school with pride, demonstrating outstanding persistence, effort, and sportsmanship. We are so proud of their achievements and commitment!
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our wonderful families and broader school community for your ongoing support and generosity. Whether it’s through volunteering your time, assisting in classrooms, helping with events, or supporting programs like Kitchen Garden and swimming, your involvement makes a real difference. We are so grateful for the strong partnerships we have with our families - it truly enriches the learning experiences for our students and helps our school community thrive.

Prep to Grade 2: Settling In and Soaring Ahead!
As Term 2 gets underway, our Prep to Grade 2 students have made a smooth and positive transition back into the routines of school life. Classrooms are once again buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and cheerful chatter as students dive into their learning with enthusiasm.
In Foundation, our youngest learners have been exploring the world of teen numbers. Understanding numbers beyond ten can be a tricky concept, but our students have tackled it with excitement and imagination. As part of their investigations, they created their very own ‘teen monsters’—playful and colourful creatures that each represent a teen number.
Over in the Grade 1 and 2 classrooms, students have been focusing on addition and subtraction strategies. To support their learning, they’ve been creating ‘sunny sums’—bright, vibrant displays with number facts radiating like sunbeams! These engaging visual tools have helped students practise solving problems, identify number patterns, and develop confidence with different methods of working out equations.
It’s been wonderful to see how each year level is embracing new challenges and working collaboratively in their classrooms. From imaginative monster creations to sunny number sentences, our Prep to Grade 2 students are off to a fantastic start this term—growing in knowledge, independence, and confidence every day.
