Leadership

Student voice and leadership
At TPS, we believe that student voice is not simply about giving students the opportunity to communicate their ideas and opinions—it’s about empowering them to influence change. When students are given genuine opportunities to collaborate with adults, contribute to decisions, and help shape their learning, it leads to deeper engagement and improved educational outcomes.
This week, we’re proud to share that we have finalised our Year 6 student leadership team for 2025. This is a new and exciting process, with students nominating themselves for the roles that interest and inspire them. For our School Ambassador positions, we held a formal election including candidate speeches and voting by Year 5/6 students and staff. All students who wanted leadership positions were successful in obtaining a position.
This experience connects meaningfully with our Civics and Citizenship unit last term, offering students a real-world application of democratic processes and active participation in their school community. It’s a powerful example of authentic learning—where students not only learn about leadership and democracy but live it.
We look forward to officially announcing our 2025 student leaders with a presentation of badges at an upcoming assembly. Congratulations to the following students elected as School Ambassadors: Luca, Bilal, Elodie and Felix. Other leadership positions will be shared in future Dhumbadjirri newsletters.
