Welcome to Term 2
Welcome back! We hope you all enjoyed a restful and refreshing holiday break. It has been a wonderful start to Term 2, with our students returning with enthusiasm, positive energy, and a readiness to learn. Classrooms are buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and collaboration — it’s clear that our students are excited to be back and are embracing the opportunities ahead. Our dedicated staff have spent time planning engaging and challenging learning experiences, and it’s been fantastic to see students already setting goals and taking ownership of their learning. The strong connections between students and staff continue to be a highlight of our school community, creating a supportive and inspiring environment for all. This term promises to be full of exciting events, meaningful learning, and community connections. From enrichment programs and extension opportunities to buddy visits and creative projects, our school is thriving with activity and purpose. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we continue to build a positive, inclusive, and empowering school culture where every child is seen, valued, and encouraged to grow as a learner and leader. We look forward to another wonderful term ahead!
Painting Work Update
Over the school holidays, the Art Building received a fresh new look! The ceiling, external brick walls, and wooden window frames were all painted, giving the space a clean, modern finish. Classrooms in the main building were also rejuvenated with newly painted walls, ceilings, window frames, and doors — creating a more vibrant and inspiring learning environment for our students.
New Mural Coming Soon!
Urban Art has begun designing a new mural for the exterior wall of the Art Building (where the painted chessboard is located). The theme? The 7 Habits of Happy Children! The mural will feature beloved characters, bright backdrops, and key messages from the 7 Habits program. Students will be invited to provide input and feedback during the design phase. This exciting project will not only enhance our school environment but also reflect and celebrate our school’s positive philosophy. Stay tuned for updates!
High Achievers Writing Workshop
Today, a group of enthusiastic Year 3-4 students participated in a full-day creative writing extension program. They joined a virtual classroom alongside students from other primary schools, working with a published author to explore storytelling techniques and strengthen their writing skills. What an inspiring experience for our budding authors!
Born to Soar – Gifted & Talented Program
Our Born to Soar program has officially launched! This eight-day enrichment experience is designed to challenge and extend our high-achieving students in creative, philosophical, and analytical thinking. Some of the thought-provoking experiences include:
- Constructing a Da Vinci Bridge to build resilience
- Exploring philosophical questions like “Can truth change?”
- Solving advanced logic and geometry problems
- Engaging in roleplay and improvisation
- Sharpening observation and deduction skills
- Embracing open-mindedness and reflective thinking
It’s a remarkable opportunity for our students to stretch their thinking and grow as learners.
Sun Safety in Terms 2 & 3
Although hats are not compulsory in Terms 2 and 3, we strongly encourage all students to wear their school-wide brimmed hats when outdoors. Caps are not allowed, as they don't provide adequate sun protection. Sunscreen applications are also promoted daily, with each class having Sunscreen Monitors. Please continue discussing sun safety at home and encourage your child to wear their hat, even on overcast days — UV rays can still be strong. Let’s all remember to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek, and Slide!
Kinder Buddies Program
Our Year 5-6 students visited Glen Education North Cheltenham Kindergarten this week to begin our Kinder Buddies Program. Each week, they’ll spend time building friendships and supporting early learning through fun activities. This program fosters leadership, responsibility, and meaningful community connections.
Traffic Management & Community Safety
Due to heavy congestion and illegal parking related to early voting, City of Kingston Traffic Management officers and local police were present on Argus Street to support student and community safety. We are working with local and federal representatives to advocate for the relocation of future polling booths. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this busy period.
School Tours & 2026 Enrolments
We continue to welcome prospective families! This week, 12 parents toured the school and were impressed by the warm, inclusive culture and student engagement in classrooms. If you have a preschooler ready for Foundation in 2026, please submit your enrolment form this term.
The Leader in Me – Our Vision in Action
The Leader in Me continues to shape the calm, respectful, and confident culture across our school. Rooted in our mission — to identify the talent, develop the confidence, and create the leader in every child — we see students flourishing as they discover their strengths and passions. Every child has a place to shine, and we are proud to nurture each unique journey toward leadership and personal growth.
Thought for the Week
There is no such thing as a perfect parent, so just be a real one. Love deeply, listen patiently, guide gently, and celebrate who your child is becoming.
Have a great weekend everyone.
