Terrific 2

Term 2 Week 2 2025 -  Friday 2nd of May

What have we been up to?

Dear Parents, Carers, and Students,

Welcome back to Term 2! We hope everyone had a restful break and enjoyed some well-deserved time off. We’re excited to kick off another fantastic term filled with learning, growth, and plenty of exciting opportunities for our students.

In Literacy

This term, our students are diving into a new novel study based on The Curious Garden by Peter Brown. It’s a beautifully illustrated story about transformation, care, and the power of nature — a perfect theme as we settle into Term 2.

Students are focusing on imagery in their writing, using rich descriptive language to bring scenes from the book to life. We’re already seeing some creative and thoughtful responses!

Home Readers

Please remember that READERS ARE CHANGED EVERY MONDAY. Students will take 2 books each Monday, where they can alternate throughout the week. Please remember, students need to read these every day as they are all in grade 2 now.

Readers will only be changed on a Monday. This may be repetitive for your child however, that is the purpose. We are focusing on fluency and confidence.

Students should continue to read over the school holidays!

In Maths

In Maths, students are exploring addition and subtraction strategies, with a strong emphasis on using number lines to develop their mental math and problem-solving skills. This hands-on approach helps students visualize number relationships and builds a strong foundation for future learning.

Leader in Me and Respectful Relationships: As part of our Leader in Me program, students are beginning Term 2 by creating new academic and personal goals. These goals are student-driven and focused on helping each child take ownership of their learning journey. We encourage you to ask your child about t

Their goals and how they plan to work toward them throughout the term!

Inquiry

We’re excited to launch a powerful new inquiry unit this term focused on Indigenous perspectives. Students will explore the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations peoples, with a focus on deepening understanding, respect, and appreciation. This unit encourages curiosity, empathy, and meaningful connections to country and community.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s progress.

Thank you for your support, Kayla Mugford Hannah Jackson Sam Downs
