Wonderful 1

The 0ne-der Stars 1s

Term 2 Week 1 2025 -  Friday 2nd May

What have we been up to?

Welcome Back to Term 2!

We’ve had a fantastic start to Term 2 here at school! After a refreshing holiday break, our students have jumped straight back into learning with great enthusiasm. This week, they’ve enjoyed hands-on typing lessons in the computer lab, building their digital confidence and skills. Students are practising typing stories and using the keyboard so they can confidently type their own stories in the future.

In literacy, we’ve been revisiting phonics to strengthen reading and spelling, as well as continuing our focus on Narrative writing. This term, students will explore a range of Indigenous picture books, using them as inspiration to write their own creative narrative stories by the end of the term.

In maths, students have started exploring addition—lots of counting, combining, and problem-solving fun!

We also came together as a school for a thoughtful ANZAC Day assembly, where students showed great respect as we reflected on the significance of this important day. It’s been a busy and exciting return!

Here are some photo highlights from the fortnight that was!

Reading  + Writing

Write 2 Learn: The focus is on using conjunctions to join sentences, helping students to create more complex and connected thoughts in their writing.

Novel Studies: They'll dive into imagery and descriptive language in books that link to Indigenous Australia, which will help them understand how language can evoke strong images and emotions related to place, culture, and history.

Maths

Addition and Subtraction: Students will explore various strategies for adding and subtracting, which will likely include mental math techniques, using number lines, or breaking numbers down to simplify problems.

Inquiry & Science

Geography: Students will start exploring the topic of Where in the world are we?, which sounds like an introduction to maps, locations, continents, countries, and the concept of place.
