Spotlight on Learning Enhancement

At Ormond Primary School we are dedicated to supporting every students' learning journey. Our Learning Enhancement program is a commitment to supporting students in a way that is both targeted and uplifting.

Our sessions are grounded in sound pedagogy, focusing on improving reading and spelling through the Multisensory Structured Language (MSL) approach. This evidence-based method supports pupils in building upon their phonics knowledge to confidently decode, blend, read, and spell. It’s a dynamic, hands-on way of learning that taps into visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic pathways, ensuring concepts are not only taught but deeply understood.

Importantly, these practices complement the phonics instruction delivered through PhOrMeS in the classroom. The Learning Enhancement timetable has been thoughtfully structured so that pupils in Foundation to Grade 2 can access additional support without missing valuable in-class phonics learning.
