Year 6 Spotlight

Reflections on Camp Jungai

6A Camp Reflections

Hello my name is Harry and this is what we did at camp. First thing we did was get into our cabins which were up a hill. After that we got split up into 4 activity groups and in each activity group had a leader. My leader was Conny. Our activities were so much fun they consisted of a wide range of things like building rafts and setting out on a lake and throwing a boomerang. We also had night time activities like movies and a cultural season with Aunty. I give it 9 Harry points.

Hello my name is Darcy and this is all the fun stuff we did at camp. First we went canoeing. It was fun at first we did a race and that did not go very well but then we had a challenge to stand on the tip of the canoe and I fell in and everybody jumped in. Also, we did bushcraft and learnt how to start a fire. It was good – we used a flint and steel. I did it on the first try which was good. The sparks made the cotton ball go up in flames.

Hi my name is Lucas and this is what I enjoyed about camp. I liked going wild at night and doing fun activities in groups, it was really fun. My favourite activities were possum pull. It’s like a giant swing but you go straight up. My other favourites were raft building and canoeing. We all had lots of fun making rafts and splashing each other, My raft sank almost straight away. We also enjoyed singing by the campfire, a trivia night, a movie night and a cultural session with Aunty.

Hello my name is Sammy, and this is about the really fun stuff we did at camp. At camp we did something called possum pull, which was this tall tower that had a rope going up. When you got clicked, the people on the side would pull you up and you could choose if you wanted to go walk, jog or run. Then you would get sent flying up and get a MASSIVE wedgie. In cultural session two we learned about plants and even got to make soap out of a plant and ate some plants!

6B Camp Reflections

Hi my name is Erin and in the last week of term 1, the year 6’s went to Camp Jungi for a week. At Camp Jungai they have lots of fun activities, really nice staff and great food. One of my personal favourite activities was canoeing, you got to go in partners and canoe around the dam, we also got to play games and also, if you are lucky and willing, you can go for a swim.

Another fun activity is bushcraft, where your leader will take you to the fireplace and teach you about how to survive in the bush. They also teach you how to make a tent with a tarp. But my favourite part about bush craft was learning how to make a fire out of flint and steel.

When I was at Camp Jungai I didn't have one bad meal. At breakfast we would either have toast, cereal, croissants and sometimes hashbrowns.

Hi my name is Jonah, at the end of term one the grade six cohort went to Camp Jungai, a camp in the Rubicon Valley. Camp was really fun, there were some challenges but we all pulled through (mostly). We learned a lot about survival in the wilderness and natural resources and a lot about indigenous culture and games. We also divulged into a whole range of fun activities. Some of my favourite activities were: bushwalk – as the name suggests it was a bushwalk but it was fun nonetheless; high ropes – we climbed up high on an obstacle course (clipped into a harness of course) right up to the top (about 13 metres) and then jumped off, and we also learned to belay the climber to ensure they got down safely; canoeing – we chose a partner to canoe with and did some races and tagging games and at the end capsized ourselves and  jumped in the lake,  leaving our shoes smelling like organic waste. So all in all camp was great, the food was good, the activities were fun and the cabins were nice.

Thank You.

My name is Mael and the week before the holidays we went to Camp Jungai in Rubicon. In my opinion I really enjoyed camp. My favourite activity was raft building. It was so fun, when we were floating on the water. The food is super yummy, the best camp food i've ever had. The activities and night activities were sooo fun. So overall camp was super fun and I had an amazing time.

6C Camp Reflections

On the last week of term 1 the grade 6s went to Camp Jungai for 5 days! It was my favourite week of this year by far! We got to do so many activities! Like canoeing, raft building, high ropes and so much more it was like kid heaven there. Every day was more exciting than the last. My favourite activity from the camp was high ropes because it was doing an obstacle course in the air. It was so fun and a little bit scary.

My favourite activity on camp was raft building because I got to go on the boat and the water. I also enjoyed the possum pull, which is when you are harnessed in and the rest of the group pulls you up 15 metres in the air, which wasn’t as scary as I thought it was going to be. I really liked my cabin, it was the best cabin I’ve ever had.

Camp Jungai was really fun and awesome! It was definitely the best camp that I have been to at school. All the activities were super fun and exciting. There were 4 activities each day, and some activities were/included, canoeing, raft building, a high ropes course, and grow it cook it, and we made pizza! The food was absolutely delicious and filling and I always ate every last mouthful. And every night we did something fun like, a talent show, a campfire, a movie, and a cultural session with Auntie Aurore who did other cultural sessions with us during camp, including a session were we tried all the bush tucker around camp, and we painted boomerangs and learnt how to throw them. Camp Jungai was just truly amazing, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Camp Jungai was really fun and exciting once we got there we had lunch. I personally really wanted to find out my cabin so, as soon as we finished eating the teachers got up and told us our cabins, when we got to our cabins we put all our stuff down and chose our bunks (I got a top bunk!). Later we had dinner (roast chicken, roast potatoes, roast pumpkin and peas) then Auntie Aurore (not Aurora) told dream stories. After the dream stories, we went up to our cabins to compete for the cleanest cabin and best performance (my cabin sadly didn't win). Over the next few days we did activities such as; high ropes, grow it cook it, low ropes, raft building, canoeing, bush walk, cultural session where we made soap with leaves and water. For the last day we did aboriginal games until we got on the bus home.

Thanks for reading!!
