Japanese Term 2

Term 2 in Japanese has started off with great success! Students across the school have started their new units of study:

Grade Prep – Numbers

Grade 1/2 – Nature and colours

Grade 3/4 – Describing facial features

Grade 5/6 – Dailey routines & timetables

For all our classes, there is a focus on the four elements of language learning: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Engaging with songs, books, games and videos spoken in Japanese, the students focus on immersing themselves in the Japanese language.

Students learn simple sentence structures and the year 5/6 students begin to read and write Hiragana characters as well as preparing for the speech to talk about their future job in Japanese.

Congratulations to Charlotte C, Sher, Sahu, Ryan M, Kaif, Liz, Jack K, Samuel A, Samuel L, Patrick, Minka, Shelby, Leon and Taku to complete the Grade 6 Japanese High Ability Program. The Japanese High Ability Program for Grade 5 will start on Monday 19th May.

Our Preps have been creating their own number flashcards, which they use at the beginning of every lesson!

Mori Sensei has also been busily starting to plan for our Japanese Day, which will be held later in the year. This is always a highlight on the calendar and will include a day of experiencing elements of Japanese culture.
