Inquiry in Action

In library, Year 5 students have been honing their research and inquiry skills by learning how to search for books using the school’s catalogue system. While doing so, some noticed many books of interest were not available in the catalogue.

Rather than seeing this as a problem, Bani, Aarvi and Aarohi from 5A, saw it as a possibility. Three students worked together to create a wish list of book titles and authors they’d love to see in the library. They consulted with one another, as well as the whole class, added a wide range of suggestions, and prepared a final list to share with our librarian.

This collaborative action shows the power of student agency and how inquiry can lead to real-world impact. It’s a reminder that even small actions, like suggesting new books, can help create a better learning environment for everyone.
