Discipleship – Learning, Growing, and Walking in Faith

At Good News Lutheran College, discipleship is not merely a concept—it is the heart of our identity as a Christ-centred learning community. As recently affirmed in The Herald Sun (Revealed: Top 100 Victorian Secondary Schools, May 5, 2025), we are a school where faith and learning walk hand in hand, where students are nurtured not only academically but spiritually, and where every step of growth is grounded in our commitment to following Jesus.

Discipleship is about choosing daily to learn from Christ, to grow in His grace, and to live out our faith through love, service, and purpose. As Principal, I’m proud of the way our students and staff embody this calling in everyday moments—through encouragement offered, leadership shown, kindness extended, and the rich rhythms of prayer and worship that shape our shared life.

The article noted that our College, now serving over 1,800 students across two campuses, offers the International Baccalaureate framework alongside a strong academic program. Yet at the core of our success, academic and otherwise, is our discipleship. It is the reason we gather in devotion, why we prioritise care and connection, and how we continue to flourish even as we grow. As I shared with the media, our mission is to help each student discover their God-given passion and purpose.

Like the early disciples, we do not journey in perfection but in faith. We don’t need to have all the answers to begin; we simply trust in God’s leading. Through classrooms and playgrounds, triumphs and trials, we are becoming the people God calls us to be.

Let us continue to walk together in faith—learning, growing, and encouraging one another in Christ.

In His service,

Fiona McAuliffe

Principal
