Health and Wellbeing

Starting this week we thought we’d provide you with an explanation of the rules of different games that are played in Health and Wellbeing classes. This newsletter's first focus is on the game called Hunter, which the kids absolutely love to play. It’s one of their favourites. The rules are:
2-3 Hunters are chosen from an envelope with their class names in it. They are to wear a coloured bib and their job is to run around for the duration of the game trying to tag all of the other students who are trying to run away and hide from them. It’s a combination of hide and seek and tag. The playing area is the whole of the oval area including garden beds, playgrounds, trees, and any other great hiding places. A student last year even hid in our equipment trolley for the duration of the game which is 7 minutes. Nobody noticed him there at all.
As soon as a person is tagged they also become a Hunter and they need to put a bib on. So gradually more Hunters come into the game. Usually there are 2-3 survivors by the end of the game if they are fast or have found a good hiding spot. The students know the boundaries of where they can and can’t go. I (Craig Mather) wish this game was around when I was a kid.
Below are some pictures showing the game being played this week.
