Div One Women's Hockey
Division One women played their first game of the season on Friday night against Coleraine. Although going down 3-1 there were many positive signs to come from this match. The team welcomed many new players including Abbie Henderson, Rosie Baker, Hannah Young and Olivia Rees. Olivia is currently our leading goal scorer!
Better players were Georgina Adams, Sophie Merrin, Skye Headlam and Hannah Young who starred in her first game as goalie.
Although this is a very new and very young team there is much to look forward to for the remainder of the season.

Men’s Hockey
The open men’s team began the season with a fine win over Couldabeens. The score of 6-0 reflected some excellent team play, good on-field “talk” and lots of running. It was a very good start to the season.
Goals were scored by Charlie Hawthorne, Taylor Haley (two each), Isaac Shaw and Ciaran Nelson.
Particularly pleasing was the way the boys adapted to a new structure which Captain Jack Jarvis set out clearly pre-game in the absence of coach Dr Hawthorne. The contribution made by new members of the team Taylor, Hugh Stratmann and young Mark Jarvis was also a big plus.

First XVII Football
Last Monday we had our First XVII football team play in the GD football competition.
We had a squad of 21 players head to Pedrina Park. The first game results in a close loss but after that we started playing a much better team brand of footy and went on to beat Monivae, Bayview and Baimbridge.
We finished the day on top thanks to great performances throughout the day from Aiden Credlin, Ted Hunter and Will Bourke.
Thanks to Mr Bourke for coaching us on the day and to Miss Dixon for organising the day and keeping everything running smoothly.

Clay Target Shooting
On Wednesday, 30 April, the College’s clay target shooting team competed at the annual Colac shoot. Competitors participated individually throughout the day while also aiming to defend the five-person team shield that the College won last year.
There was only a light sprinkle of rain and the competition was strong with around 160 competitors. At the conclusion of the day’s shooting, scores were tallied and posted on the board. The top five shooters for the College were:
- Harry Brown (18/20)
- Lincoln Brown (14/20)
- Taylor Hayley (14/20)
- Josh Pringle (12/20)
- Braden Veale (12/20)
These scores qualified us for the team shoot-off, in which Annabelle Funke also stepped in to fill a team position. After five targets each, the team went on to secure back-to-back victories in the five-person team event.
Following a further 10-target shoot-off, Harry Brown was named Overall High Gun for the day.
Training for the team has now begun and takes place on Monday nights after school at the Hamilton Clay Target Club, where we shoot a round of 10 targets and a round of 15. Training will continue throughout this term and into Term 3 as we prepare for the Noorat School Shoot in August, along with other upcoming events.

Angling Club - Fishing East Beach
The College Angling Club fished East Beach, Port Fairy, on Saturday 3 May. Six anglers were in attendance, with the fish on the bite as soon as we started fishing.
All had a great time, with at least 15 salmon caught. Lachie Oldfield Mann was on fire, catching seven salmon, and Harry Lyons caught four. This was Makenna Klemm's first fishing outing, and she had an awesome day catching two salmon. Words cannot describe her excitement when she reeled in her first fish. This was also Oliver Copley's first trip with the club and he showed great initiative, rigging his own bait and casting. He also managed to land a salmon. Well done, Oliver!
Nic McCure also caught a couple and once again, he has been very helpful and willingly to assist other anglers. It was great to see Nic helMakenna in improving her casting technique.
Our next outing is on 17 May.
Angling Club membership is now full. If you are interested in joining for 2026, please see Mr Naidu.
Tight lines.
