Year 5/6 Learning Reflection

In Literacy this week the Grade 6 students are learning about figurative and literal language and commas and adverbials to punctuate a sentence.

Grade 5 students have been completing paired fluency, reading about the threats of polar bears, making links to their serial read The Last Bear.

During Numeracy the Grade 5/6 learning has been based on 3D shapes.

Grade 5 students have been making product packaging using nets of 3D shapes.

5A created their own supermarket shelf of 3D shape packets.

Grade 6 used plasticine and string to investigate and then draw the 2D cross section shape of a 3D shape.

As part of our SEL lessons we have been learning about Help Seeking, specifically who to trust and to also trust in ourselves.

We asked a buddy to close their eyes, trust us and let us lead them around the school.

We had some great conversations about how we felt and who we trust as we get older.

With our transition to secondary school fast approaching, the Grade 6 students have been practising their typing skills to develop their touch typing.
