Always Being Your Best.
Here we are in Week 8 ! It is amazing how fast the term has flown by. Easter eggs in the shops add that little bit of festive feeling, but also the possibility of an Easter break.
Athletics Day
On Thursday we have our Athletics Day at Lar Birpa on Retreat Rd.
Students are reminded to bring a wide brim hat and sunscreen.
The whole school will be in attendance with our F-2 students having a modified program during the morning and the Grade 3 to 6 students participating for the whole day. It should be a wonderful fun day with students/staff wearing house colours and having fun trying hard together.
We plan to hold the 100m and 200m sprints for our Grade 3 to 6 students from 9:45am to 10:30am. Our F to 2 students will have their sprints during the 12pm to 12:30pm time slot. All the action starts early on Thursday morning.
All parents/carers are welcome to attend, but we would like to let you know that we need to respect our child safe procedures by separating our students from the general public attending as this is an open venue. When attending this venue personally, I found a folding chair to be a great thing to bring along. The areas of shade will be used for each age group having a rest period. Hats are essential for all on this day.
Please respect the instructions of the staff as to where to sit and where to observe the events. No parent/ carer is to be on the athletics track or in the F-2 events area.
F to 2 students will be returning to school by 1:30pm Grade 3 to 6 will be back at school by 3pm. Unless there is an emergency it is expected that all students are collected from KFPS at 3pm.
Harmony Day
Information about this day went out via SENTRAL last week. This week at Assembly we will celebrate Harmony Day with a short presentation and afterwards move into a Literacy based activity. Students are reminded to wear a splash of orange. Our choir will sing at Assembly and we will have our “Respect” awards to students who are inclusive members of our school.
Traffic update
You may have noticed a camera near our crossing on Olympic Pde. This is a preplanned placement. From their email it stated “The Department of Transport and Planning is partnering with councils to survey traffic and pedestrian movements at various locations across Victoria to identify any road safety issues.” We are hopeful that this will improve student safety around our school.
Parking near the school
It has been reported to the school and to the COGB that some parents are not parking in the correct places. We know parking is tight and many parents get here early to secure a close spot, but if you are late then parking over a driveway is not an option. A neighbour recently was delayed from attending their job and was spoken to aggressively when they asked a person to move their car from the driveway. This is unfortunate and we would like to ask all parents/carers to show respect to our neighbours near our school.
E Scooters
Early this week two students were observed by a concerned neighbour, riding along the middle of a local street, not being mindful of traffic and putting themselves at risk. Can you please talk to your children in regard to the expectations of listed below from Transport Victoria:-
E-scooter riders must:
Students at our school are not aged 16 or over, we want our students to be safe and we advise parents that their students are unable to ride an E Scooter to and from school.
Thank you
Faye & Kelsey
