La Semaine de la Francophonie

Week 8 (16th - 20th March)

This year, we will be celebrating La Semaine de la Francophonie with Killarney Heights Public School in Week 8. We are hoping to follow the above calendar. Please note that:

  • The open morning for parents and grand-parents will be on Thursday the 19th
    • open classes in Session 1 for La Grande Lessive
    • French performance in Session 2 in the Hall
  • We are still awaiting confirmation for the Tuck Shop croissants and the French Book Fair.

 

Lunch time : This year again, Julian and Stefan will invite Year 2-6 students to play hockey with them in the hall (one year level per day). If you want to run another activity for the Junior and/or the Senior students, just let Caroline or Marilyne know so that we can add it to our calendar.

 

Dress up day on Tuesday the 17th: Students will wear the colours of the francophone country they are representing on that day.

Class activities : 

  • English teachers are invited to complete a mini-research task with their classes about their francophone country. You can find a selection of templates you might want to use or adapt for your classes here:

  • Foundation students will learn a French song and record it for KHPS. They will also perform their song for families during open morning and during our Week 9 special assembly. Project Leader: Mickaël
  • Year 1 and Year 2 students will prepare a presentation for KHPS about two francophone countries (Madagascar and Morocco). Project Leader: Marie-Noelle
  • Year 3 to 6 will have fun designing a poster to illustrate a 'Vire-langue' (Tongue-twister) as part of a competition with KHPS. Project Leaders: Emilie and Elisha

 

Week 9 Special assembly : all year levels will share their work to celebrate La Semaine de la Francophonie and the winners of the Vire-langues competition will be announced.
