The St Luke’s SRC (Student Representative Council) is the recently established council that represents the student body at St Luke’s. The inaugural SRC was elected late last year (2025) after a rigorous process of applications, voting and interviews. The Council’s work is dedicated to only one interest; the holistic wellbeing of the students. It is composed of the School Captain and Vice-Captain (ourselves), 2 year 12,

8 and 4 portfolio leaders across 6 portfolios and house leaders. All of these SRC Members focus on their respective areas of student wellbeing to ensure all students not only feel supported, but thrive at St Luke’s.

The SRC has a wide array of exciting initiatives that are currently underway and will be progressing over the course  of this year. In the following sections, you will find some of these initiatives being undertaken by the Portfolio leaders. However, on a wider scale, the SRC has also been working for general quality of life improvements around the school.

One of these initiatives is new basketball nets, an initiative that is currently underway. Another major initiative is the new SRC Canvas page, which is currently under-development. This page will be a central hub/dashboard for SRC-related activities, from student resources to updates about upcoming events. On this new Canvas page, the SRC will also be formally launching a feedback form for students to provide insight into challenges they notice around the school. Just as excitingly, the new page will also mark the launch of the new Student Club application form, allowing students to launch their own extracurricular clubs! All of this and plenty more is to come over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

On the 30th of March, our school will celebrate Multicultural Day, an event that recognises and values the diverse cultural backgrounds within our community. On this day, students are encouraged to attend school dressed in traditional cultural clothing that represents their heritage and reflects the part of the world their families originate from.

This celebration provides an opportunity for students to express pride in their identity, share cultural traditions, and learn about the customs, beliefs, and histories of others. Multicultural Day promotes inclusivity, respect, and understanding by allowing students to appreciate the richness of different cultures that contribute to our school’s multicultural environment.

Students will have further opportunities to become involved in school life through forms that will be released for those interested in joining existing school clubs or proposing new clubs that reflect their passions and interests. In addition, a separate form will allow students to submit ideas and initiatives they would like to see implemented within the school community. These opportunities aim to encourage student leadership, creativity, and active participation, ensuring that student voices continue to shape an inclusive and engaging school  environment.

Hi - it's Natasha and Simran - your Connectivity and Inclusion portfolio leaders!

St Luke’s is proud to have such a diverse and vibrant community

- and Connectivity and Inclusion is all about recognising, celebrating and valuing each person.

A key initiative that the Connectivity and Inclusion team has been working on is — this very article!

This article is a fantastic way to strengthen communication across our school, celebrate the diversity of our community, and ensure every student feels informed, included and connected.

Moreover, we will be playing an active role during upcoming events such as Multicultural day.

Always remember:

“Together, by lifting one another up, we can build a community where everyone belongs!”

Hey, it’s your creative arts and cultural leaders here, Jonas and Asmika! Our portfolio focuses on the creative and cultural life of the school. We aim to strengthen and promote the creative arts while fostering an inclusive environment where all cultures are represented, celebrated, and given opportunities for expression.

As the Creative Arts and Cultural leaders, we aim to come up with new initiatives to give the students of the school more opportunities to express their creativity, just as St. Luke did when he painted the first icon of the Virgin Mary and Jesus. We also aim to strengthen and build on existing initiatives at school, such as Multicultural Day and St Luke’s Day, and we’ve been finding ways to make them even more fun and special.

We are currently helping plan initiatives for the school’s annual Multicultural Day in order to add our own creative and cultural touch.

Stay tuned for the exciting, creative and cultural opportunities to come throughout the year!

Hello! We are your Mission and Faith Development leaders - Summer and Tim!

The purpose of the Mission & Faith Development portfolio is to support the identity of the school as faith-centred. By maintaining existing practices and suggesting new initiatives which enable deeper student engagement, the community is encouraged to genuinely resonate with Catholic values.

As the Mission and Faith Development Leaders, our goal is simple: to enable self reflection and growth through faith instilled values. In order to achieve this, we have to be able to create initiatives that look beyond the lens of fun and foster intention within students by putting faith into action – yet still maintain reverence and respect.

A new midday prayer routine has recently been established at school, and we were given the honour of introducing it. This regular time of prayer provides the entire school community a chance to pause, reflect on the day’s progress, and continue on with renewed focus and clarity.

Having different prayers each day ensures that everyone can  find a moment that speaks to them personally, strengthening our shared sense of faith and community.

Faith will always be an important part of our school, and in the words of Mother Teresa – We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love.” So lets get the ball rolling with the little things to create a lasting spiritual impact on all!

This year, our Sports and Physical Activity portfolio is focused on strengthening participation, teamwork, and school spirit through inclusive and engaging opportunities for all students. A key initiative supporting this goal is our upcoming Multicultural day Sports tournament. Students from Stage 2 through to Stage 6 will have the opportunity to represent their nationalities in a series of non-contact sporting competitions held during recess and lunch. By structuring the competition within age groups, we are ensuring a fair, safe, and enjoyable environment where students can compete alongside their peers while celebrating cultural diversity.

The tournament will feature a range of sports including touch football, basketball, volleyball, continuous cricket, soccer, and futsal. These modified formats are designed to fit within shorter timeframes while maintaining high levels of engagement and skill development. More importantly, the initiative aims to make sport accessible to students of all abilities, encouraging confidence, cooperation, and positive participation rather than simply focusing on results.

With Multicultural Day approaching, this event provides a meaningful way for students to connect with their heritage, build friendships across year groups, and contribute to a vibrant school culture. Through effort, teamwork, and respect, we hope to foster lifelong habits around health, fitness, and inclusion while creating an exciting and memorable experience for our entire school community.

“Sport isn't just about winning; it's about effort, teamwork, and becoming the best of yourself.”

Stewardship isn’t just about caring for the environment; it means nurturing God’s creation and leaving a legacy of sustainability for future generations. This is shown by taking responsibility for our actions and caring for the world around us, starting with our own school community!

Currently, we are in the process of drafting future sustainability activities and events. Through these efforts, we hope to inspire students to take small, meaningful actions every day that contribute to a greener, healthier world. Whether it’s reducing waste, planting in the garden, or participating in environmental campaigns, our aim is to create a culture where sustainability is valued and practised by all.

Caring for the environment may start with small steps, but these actions can create a lasting legacy. By working together as a school community, we can nurture God’s creation, inspire each other, and leave a positive mark for generations to come. As the saying goes, “We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.” Let’s take responsibility today for a sustainable tomorrow!

Hey St Luke’s community, it's your Wellbeing Leaders Joshita and Kuldeep! The wellbeing portfolio supports the social, emotional and mental wellbeing within our school community. We strive to foster a positive, inclusive environment where  every student feels welcome.

This year, we plan to implement several initiatives for the betterment of our school and create a more positive school community overall.

We plan to bring forth fortnightly advisory workshops for all students from years 7-12. Over the past term, a significant number of Year 7 to 11 students have approached senior leaders seeking advice about what to expect in Years 11 and 12. We propose the introduction of fortnightly recess time advisory workshops designed specifically for junior students, run by the wellbeing portfolio leaders. These workshops will provide students with the opportunity to ask questions and learn new skills that are necessary for higher schooling years. These workshops would create a supportive culture where students feel guided, prepared, and empowered for their senior years.

We want to work towards making our students' experience better every year. Through this initiative students gain essential knowledge regarding the HSC year as well as, how to prepare and perform the best they can. With the help of YCS (Young Christian Students) who are partnering with us on our initiative journey, we aim to help reduce students' academic stress and improve their mental health and wellbeing. The YSC group is teaming with us to help market and promote our workshops to give a broader range of opportunities and support to our high school students.

Looking ahead, we are excited to introduce more engaging and meaningful initiatives that will continue to strengthen our school community and bring us together through faith, unity, and understanding.

Join us as we strive to create an environment where every student feels supported, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential!

Being a house leader means being a role model to others in our house means setting a positive example through our actions, attitudes, and respect for everyone. It also involves actively participating in house activities and demonstrating enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment. Additionally, having good sportsmanship means playing fairly, supporting others, and handling both wins and losses with grace and respect.

House spirit is a great way to bring the community together! To have a great house spirit is to represent your house by wearing your house colours, being involved in all activities, showing good sportsmanship, and communicating with everyone. To bring up house spirit, we can actively participate in team chants and challenges, and demonstrate team effort in every event we participate in!

What’s happening around the school at the moment relating to all the houses?

Right now, house spirit is in full swing! We’re hosting an exciting House Trivia Competition, where every house has the chance to get involved, compete, and show off their knowledge. The trivia questions focus on our incredible house patrons. It’s a great way to learn more about the inspiring figures behind our house names while earning valuable points for the leaderboard.

We’re also planning an epic House Mario Kart Tournament over the next few weeks, where each house will compete against one another in fast-paced, competitive races. It’s all about teamwork, strategy, and a little bit of friendly rivalry. Students will represent their houses in knockout rounds, building excitement as we move closer to the finals.

Einstein House:

SWOOP SWOOP! Hey Einstein House, it’s your leader, Riya! This year, let’s be inspired by Albert Einstein to think differently, stay curious, and never be afraid to ask big questions. Let’s challenge ourselves, support one another, and prove that with creativity and determination, there’s no limit to what we can achieve together!

DaVinci House:

Gooo Da Vinci! Hey Da Vinci house, Ravya here. This year, let us strive to become more like Leonardo Da Vinci himself by embracing curiosity and creativity and inspiring others with our ideas.

Mackillop House:

Go Mackillop! Hey Mackillop House, it’s Natalia! This year, let’s lead with courage, kindness, and resilience, just like our patron, Saint Mary MacKillop. She faced challenges with strength and never gave up on what she believed in. Let’s support one another, stand up for what’s right, and show everyone the true spirit of Mackillop.

Teresa House:

Go Big Go Blue Go Teresa. Hey Teresa, it’s Sandra! As a new house leader, I aim to make our house more memorable by being determined and showing compassion to everyone, just as our house patron, Mother Teresa, did.

Curie House:

Hello Curie House! It’s Aarya, your new house leader. This year, I vow to create lasting memories within our house, focusing on enhancing our house spirit and participation. Like Marie Curie, let’s all continue to be compassionate, determined, and curious individuals who strive to do our best every day.

King House:

Hey, King House, It’s Diva. This year, let us carry forward the message of Martin Luther King Jr. by treating everyone with dignity and working together to build a supportive school environment.
