Before, After and Holiday Care @ St Mary's
Hello Friends and Families,
We are so excited to share with you all what we have been getting up to at TheirCare these last few weeks. Further to this we are so excited to share with you some new updates about the upcoming Holiday Program.
Week 5 – ‘Sensory Splash’
This week we have been exploring many different sensory driven mediums. This has included objects such as play dough all the way through to bubbles and harma beads. It has been amazing to see how the children describe and utilise these different mediums on an everyday basis. Moving away from our theme, this week the children also demonstrated a strong interest in drawing portraits of one another and have made an amazing display of these up on our wall. It is lovely to see them actively build and extend their creativity. Drawing back in line with our theme of all things sensory we spent a good portion of our week this week making Hamar Beads. The children were mesmerised by the feeling of the beads and thought it was exciting to see how the beads would melt and connect after being under the iron. This week the weather worked with us and therefore we were also able to maximise our outdoor play time. Activities of interest outside were: soccer and sandpit shop!
Week 4 – ‘In The Jungle’
WOW! We are struggling to believe that we have already reached the end of Week 6 in Term 2! This week’s activities were all formulated around the theme ‘Colour Pop!’ We actively used bright colours in order to form art and experiences during the week. The children experienced using wool to make Pom Poms and expressed their love for colour by making a rainbow colour dial. It is amazing to see the children work alongside one another in hopes of learning or assisting others to develop a new skill. Drawing away from the theme of Colour Pop!, this week the school held a ‘Food Fight’. For those children attending TheirCare on this night, we planned a special afternoon whereby the children used water to play a range of interactive games. This included, sponge toss, water ballon throw/catch and “biggest splash”. The children enjoyed this experience so much and showed high levels of responsibility and care when participating.
Sun Safety
Being in Term 2, we would like to reassure all parents and guardians that we closely monitor the Temperature and UV Rays before engaging in outdoor play and Hats are worn as required. Further to this we continue to ensure that sunscreen is always applied, if your child requires a specific sunscreen, please do not hesitate to let us know so that we can accommodate for this!
Holiday Program
We are so excited to announce that this Term’s Holiday Program’s theme is ‘Time Warp’. Bookings for this program will be open on FullyBooked as of next week. We have some amazing excursions these Holidays whereby we will be going to the Melbourne Museum 3D Dinosaur Exhibition, Roller Skating, SuperPark as well as going to the Movies to see Inside Out 2! As always, there is also many ‘In House’ days with ranging themes branching from Science, Craft and Sports for the children to enjoy. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!
Many Thanks,
Swaye and Ellie
