Performing Arts
Our Showcase Series 2024 brought the school's talents to the forefront, showcasing a diverse array of musical and dance styles. From contemporary to classical dance, from improvisational jazz standards to energetic rock performances, students captivated audiences with their passion and skill, making it a week to remember. On behalf of the Performing Arts Captains, I'd like to congratulate everyone that was involved and thank everyone who came along to watch the shows. ~ Jeremy Coath
The Dance Showcase was, and is always, an incredible highlight for us Dance students. So much work from many people made this amazing performance possible. We spent hours over the last two terms to choreograph and realise our VCE Skills-based Solos, and then have the opportunity to show off our hard work to friends and family. We also performed a group dance, choreographed by the one and only Ms Ball herself. Throughout the choreographic process, we had many feedback sessions with Ms Ball to finalise details and refine movements to improve them as much as we could. Our class environment is so supportive as everyone is kind and helpful when it comes to constructive criticism.
On the night of the Showcase, we all cheered for each other, back stage and side stage. The whole night was flooded with such great support from everyone. It was an incredible performance and everyone worked so hard to make it possible. We thank Ms Ball, Mr Lewis, the tech crew, audience and everyone involved for allowing that night to be so memorable. :)

As year 11 VCE students, this was our first Dance Showcase. We really enjoyed choreographing our solo/duos as it was a new challenge to choreograph with the VCE requirements. It was great to see the different skills and strengths of our classmates as we all come from various Dance backgrounds. Everyone who performed did an incredible job and we are extremely proud of what our class have achieved. ~ Tiarnna Handley, Maxine Delahunty and Emily Gray, Unit 1 Dance
This years showcase was amazing to be a part of and really fun as well. Being able to perform on a night with all year levels present is always a fun experience and performing after months of rehearsal makes it all the more rewarding. Seeing all the different bands and ensembles is always very interesting and incredible to listen to, the teachers chose really good songs and pieces for this year’s showcase. Also, back stage where we got to encourage each other and help calm any nerves we may have had before we went on was very memorable and everyone was very supportive of each other. Overall, wonderful experience and I look forward to the next one! ~ Sophie Beltrame
Being apart of the solo showcase is always a huge honour! It allows for a space of like minded artists to come together and perform something they've dedicated so much time to! I personally had an amazing time and everyone did a fantastic job to bring together a show for an audience to enjoy. We do one every semester so if you missed it this time be sure to make it to the next one as it's not something you want to miss!! ~ Nathan Bromfield
Last week I had the absolute honour of participating of Wantirna College’s annual music showcases. During the ensemble showcase, I was backstage crew, quickly moving chairs and music stands onstage, and getting the ensembles prepared beforehand. Tech crew is an amazing experience that makes you feel like you are a part of a family of people united with the goal of making the show run smoothly, and I could not ask for a better family.
On Thursday night I was a performer in the contemporary showcase, performing 5 songs in 3 different groups. Mixed Choir is such a fun opportunity for anyone interested in singing, and I feel blessed to have been invited to join Harmony Group this year. Both of these ensembles show how incredibly dedicated our music teachers are, and I am thankful for each and every one. At the beginning of this year, I also joined Contemporary Band C (Contemp Cool!), and I was so nervous to perform, but the atmosphere was electric and the whole band have grown to become amazing friends of mine, so I savoured every moment, and loved it. Thank you to everyone who participated in the showcases or came to watch the fun! ~ Nyx Main
