Student Voice

by Brooke Douglas

On Wednesday 24th April, our students were invited to share their voice to the 'Women's Pain Forum' (Hosted by Tim Richardson MP), to be an important voice in this discussion. Responding to the Victorian Women’s Health Survey found that four in 10 women in our state live with chronic pain. The Premier has announced Victoria's first inquiry into women's pain, to examine systemic issues and hear directly from women about their own experiences. The desired outcome of delivering more women's health clinics, recruiting more women's health specialists, supporting more women’s surgeries, and establishing dedicated women’s health hubs right across the state can only be achieved by taking the time to listen and to learn. We were so proud to have four of our students from Years 10 and 11 represent our school (Josie Thornton, Millie Harris MacDonald, Abby Sheriff and Sarah Munro). They were privileged to be heard by our Premier (Hon. Jacinta Allan), Minister for Health, (Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas MP) and our Kingston Mayor (Cr Jenna Davey- Burns). We are so proud of these young women for being an important voice for our school and wider community.
