Deputy Principal Staff and Students Report

Taster Days

Last week we had two Taster Days welcoming Grade 5 students, from a number of different primary schools, to Nazareth College to experience a day in the life of a secondary school student. The Taster Days help students to experience how a secondary school runs, help build positive relationships between the primary school and Nazareth College and give students an opportunity to experience our community. The Taster Days are a great opportunity for the Grade 5 students, and our fantastic and generous specialist teachers in their learning areas do a wonderful job with our visiting students. A big thank you to all the staff involved in facilitating these days and for the primary schools for spending the day with us.

Parent Zoom Meeting held last week: Study Skills for Students

Last week we hosted an optional information session on Zoom with over one hundred people joining us on Zoom. A big thank you to all the Parents/Guardians/Carers who joined us. We were very pleased with the number of people attending the online meeting. If you have any ideas/topics in relation to student wellbeing or parenting support that may be of use for you to learn a little more about, please contact me at the College and we can see if it could be possible to put an evening on at the College in this area.

Year 11 Debutante Ball

Due to a significant number of non Nazareth students participating in the Debutante Ball, it was difficult to run this as a school event. The school, however, is very happy to advise that the Debutante Ball will go ahead and Southeast Presentation Events will be responsible for this event and all the rehearsals, payment, supervision etc.

Please contact Southeast Presentation Events if you would like to register or have any questions about the Debutante Ball.

Ordinary Time

In the liturgical year we have entered into ordinary time after the Easter season. This season is a time where we reflect on the teachings and life of Jesus. It is a time for us to pray, grow closer to Jesus through pondering his word and closeness in the sacraments. It is also a time where we aim to be growing closer to Jesus by our prayer and approach to life in the ordinary every day. It is often the little things that can make a big difference to other people and also for ourselves in our journey. As we are past the half way mark of the term, it is in the little things done well and faithfully that we grow as learners and indeed as young people of faith.

Lord Jesus, help us to persevere with the little things each day - listening, being focused in class, completing the set work and, also, to develop little habits of prayer in the morning and night so during this ordinary time we do the ordinary things very well and grow into extra-ordinary people modelled on you.

Holy Family of Nazareth – Be our inspiration and our guide.

Jesus of Nazareth – Help us to grow in faith, wisdom and knowledge

God Bless
