Loddon Mallee Region Cross Country

Congratulations to Max H, Jed H, Taj W and Lotti Mc who represented Spring Gully Primary and the Sandhurst Division at the LM Regional Cross Country on Tuesday. This event featured the best distance runners from North West, North Central and Central Victoria and was held on a particularly challenging St Arnaud course.

In an amazing run, both Max (10th) and Jed (11th) finished in the top 12 of the 10 Years Boys race and have now qualified for the School Sport Victoria - State Cross Country Championships at Yarra Glen later this year. Outstanding effort Max and Jed.

Taj (23rd) and Lotti (42nd), also performed brilliantly in their respective races and should both be very proud of their efforts. Awesome effort!

Division Soccer Championships

I would like to congratulate both the Senior Boys and Girls soccer teams for their performance at the Sandhurst Division Soccer Championships at Epsom yesterday. Both of our teams represented the school extremely well, demonstrating wonderful sportsmanship, skill and team spirit.

The Girls team had a particularly successful day, going through undefeated, finishing 1st and winning the Division Champions Title. They finished the day with 6 wins, one draw and only conceded 1 goal for the day. The girls will now go on to represent the school at the LM Regional Final in Swan Hill on the 8th of August.

The Boys team also had a great day, particularly given it was the first time many of the team members had played competitive soccer. They were extremely competitive in all of the games they played, often dominating play but unlucky not to score. They finished the day with one win, three draws and three losses.

It was a pleasure to take such a well behaved, enthusiastic, team orientated group of students to this tournament. I would sincerely like to thank Michelle 'Billsy' Maher for outstanding coaching of the Girls team. I would also like the thank Mr Daenke for his wonderful work with the Boys team. The players have certainly learnt a great deal in a short period of time.
