Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships

In Prep Mortlock, we have been exploring what it means to make 'friendly and unfriendly' decisions, in and out of the classroom. We have applied this learning by discussing scenarios that would be 'friendly or unfriendly', then acting the 'friendly' scenarios out in front of our peers. We then brainstormed ways we could be kind to our friends and drew these ideas into our workbooks.

Some of the responses from the students included:

' Asking a friend if they are okay'

' Asking other people if they want to play'

' Being kind and using nice words'

' Sharing with your friends'

Wear it Yellow Day

Last Friday we celebrated “Wear it Yellow” Day as part of Reconciliation Week. Thank you for making this such a special day!! It was all about recognising our shared history and celebrating First Nations Culture. Students participated in a variety of activities including:

  • First Nations Artefacts Presentation
  • Weaving Activity
  • Indigenous Games
  • Bunjil Collaborative Artwork

We are so excited to have raised $364.90 for Children’s Ground and thank everyone for their contributions. A huge thank you to our KESO Jess Egan for guiding us in making this day happen!

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

So far we have 10 students who have begun their Premiers Reading Challenge from home. These 10 students have already read a combined 130 books! What an amazing start for these students.

Lots of classes have begun their Challenge as a class and are getting through the books very quickly.

If you are yet to begin your Challenge from home, I look forward to seeing your logged books appear in the next few weeks!

Keep up the great reading everyone.

SWPBS News

There must be a lot of stickers being handed out because our GuGu jigsaw puzzle in the office looks like it is nearly complete which is AWESOME NEWS! We only need a few more pieces to reach the Level 2 Prize for Term 2 which is a Chipnick! So keep living our School Values, keep following those expectations on the Matrix in your classroom, keep getting GuGu stickers and see if we can tick off a few more classroom milestones.

As soon as we are sure that the Chipnick reward has been reached, parents will be informed through Compass, as there will need to be a small cost to families to cover the cost of the food.
