New Concussion Protocols

Earlier this year, new detailed concussion guidelines were released, including a dedicated section on the management of concussions in children and adolescents.

The guidelines are designed to help those involved in sport including medical staff, volunteers, coaches, players, parents and administrators by providing clear steps in the initial management of a suspected concussion and the stages for return-to-play following concussion.

There are now updated guidelines on helping students manage a return to school after a concussion.

I have included these guidelines below. It is important that the school is informed of any occurrence of concussion so the school and family can work together to ensure a smooth transition back to the learning environment.

COVID

Unfortunately, Covid cases are once again on the increase and we have had a number of students away unwell.  As we head into the winter months, it's important that we continue to prioritise the safety and health of our students, teachers, and community by following COVID-19 safe protocols. Here are some reminders to help keep our school a safe and healthy environment:

  1. Good Hygiene: Encourage your children to practice good hygiene by washing their hands frequently and properly, especially before and after eating, using the bathroom, and after coughing or sneezing.

  2. Staying Home if Unwell: If your child is feeling unwell, please keep them at home and seek medical attention if necessary. It's important that we all do our part to prevent the spread of illness.

  3. Testing if Symptoms: If your child or any family member experiences Covid-like symptoms, please arrange for them to get tested as soon as possible. This will help us identify any potential outbreaks and take necessary measures to keep everyone safe.

We appreciate your cooperation and support in keeping our school community safe and healthy. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
