Upcoming exams

As the upcoming examination period approaches, students should be revising in anticipation for the beginning of the exam schedule.  It is an important time when preparation does make all the difference. While cramming and last-minute study may seem more important than anything else, prioritising sleep is often overlooked and essential. A restful night's sleep enhances cognitive function and boosts memory retention which is critical for recalling crucial information during exams. A rested mind is sharper, more focused, and better equipped to tackle the challenges of examinations. Please support our young people in their exam preparation, by ensuring sufficient sleep is achieved.

VCE VM Work Experience Placement

I  wish all our VCE VM students the very best as they embark on their upcoming work experience over the next two weeks. This fantastic opportunity will provide valuable insights, experiences, and a deeper understanding of their possible career pathway.

Music

I am proud of our VCE Unit 1 & 3 Music Performance and Year 9 Music students and their commitment and dedication to their art which was on display at their concerts. It takes a tremendous amount of courage to step onto the stage and share your musical talents with an audience. Their passion, hard work, and bravery in facing the spotlight inspire us all. Every performance, is a reflection of the student, their determination, perseverance, and passion. Congratulations! I particularly wanted to pass on my sincere gratitude to the classroom teacher, Ms Anita Marcou.

Our Instrumental Music Team deserves a big congratulations and our appreciation for the invaluable support they offer to so many of our students. Their dedication and love for music create countless opportunities for our students to showcase their talents. Whether it's through rehearsals, assemblies, or performance evenings, they tirelessly work behind the scenes to nurture a vibrant musical community. Last night they hosted the eagerly anticipated Year 7 Music Debut, where our budding musicians took their first steps onto the stage - well done to you all on a fabulous show. The Ensemble Extravaganza is coming up on June 20th - mark this in your diaries as it promises a showcase of musical brilliance from our talented ensembles. Let's extend our gratitude to the Instrumental Music Team for their unwavering commitment to fostering a love of music and providing enriching experiences for our students.

Avenues Preparation

The upcoming Avenues Exchange is generating excitement as our team prepares for this prestigious event. With departure set for Monday 24th June, our students are gearing up to represent Chelt.Sec against their counterparts from Avenues School in Adelaide. This cultural exchange, established in 1965, fosters camaraderie and healthy competition between the two schools across various domains including sports, academia, music, and more. The competition kicks off on Tuesday 25th June, for what promises to be an exhilarating showcase of talent and teamwork. Stay tuned for updates as our students embark on this exciting journey!

School Saving Bonus

You may have seen the recent announcement of the School Saving Bonus, as part of the Victorian Budget 2024/25. We are sharing more information about how families will be able to access and use this support.

  • This one-off support will include $400 for each eligible student to help families cover the costs in 2025.
  • It will be available to parents and carers of every child enrolled in a Victorian government school in 2025.
  • Cash will not be paid directly to individuals or families. Instead, families will receive the bonus as credits on their school accounts that will help meet the costs of their children’s activities.

The School Saving Bonus will be in addition to CSEF and the application-based Affordable School Uniform program, through State Schools’ Relief, for families experiencing financial hardship or other forms of vulnerability and short-term crisis.

There will be more information and guidance about the School Saving Bonus in Term 3, 2024, ahead of its implementation in 2025.
