CAMP 2024

The Year 5/6 students recently returned from their school camp to Arrabri Lodge in the scenic Yarra Valley town of Warburton. The trip was a wonderful success and we could not have asked for better weather! All staff in attendance were impressed with the great spirit and positive attitude shown by the children. It was the perfect opportunity for students to bond, challenge themselves whilst building resilience and different skills in a fun, non -stressful environment.

A big shout out to Miss Kromer for her tireless effort in co ordinating the camp and to all the supportive staff for their supervision of the students.

Thankyou to the students who recorded in their journal some of the highlights of their time away from school and home.  Below is a snap shot of some of the camper’s reflections from various grades. The photos really capture the enthusiasm and wonderful participation by the students and we congratulate them on their efforts.

“ We had a tour of the camp grounds and we did activities like the Giant Swing which I wish I could redo again.  Our nightwalk was challenging but we ate marshmallows and they were yummy.”     Preston

“ Damper cooking was fabulous. We received a dough portion and needed to place it onto a stick we found. We cooked it over an open fire and it turned golden brown. I spread butter and jam on mine and it was delicious.”  Yianni

“ The Giant swing was scary but once it slowed down it was quite fun. We then did archery which was quite challenging to hit the target.”   Chanelle

“The bus ride was a long one. I thoroughly enjoyed archery and my highest score was 50 and my team score was 117. We did a sensory walk through the forest and my spotters were Jessica and Emily. The food was delicious and we ate chicken schnitzel, corn, carrot and potatoes with chocolate fudge and vanilla icecream for dessert. After the campfire we saw pretty stars and then it was nighty nighty to bed.”    Isabel

“ On the long hike there were lots of trees and the views were gorgeous. We even saw alpacas!!. I had so much fun playing basketball and Gaga Ball in my free time .”    Jaylah

“ I did have a fear of the Giant Swing but I managed to get way to the top and also had fun in archery. I got the yellow bit and was the highest scorer. The ropes were really hard to get a grip on but I completed the obstacle course and got through. I was introduced to my cabin members and was really happy.”   Kenzo

“ Today I did the climbing wall for my 7th rotation and mini golf was the best!. The big hike was strenuous and sadly I fell 6 times, but it was okay.”    Abbey

“ I managed to make it half way around the rock wall and unfortunately  I did not feel comfortable doing the Giant Swing but Mrs Polites gave it a go and we were impressed.” Wyatt

“ I loved the scenic environment and enjoyed the damper bread cooking activity over the fire.”  Rina

“ I felt like I was flying through the air when I did the flying fox and I went all the way to the top on the Giant Swing. Archery was very tough to aim at the target and cooking damper was challenging too to try and not burn our bread on the flames.”   Edwina

“ The most enjoyable activity today was going on a big hill trek. It was amazing to see everyone giving it a go and at the end most people were exhausted. We got to take beautiful pictures on our camera.”   Sierra

“ In the hall we did bush dancing, it was funny. Roasting marshmallows and seeing the milky way was the highlight of my night. The flying fox was incredible and having free time allowed us to play with our friends.”    Richie

“ On the ropes I was paired with Ava and Adora who were my spotters. It was really difficult but fun at the same time. I went to the very top on the GIant Swing and it was horrifying being so far away from the ground and terrifying when it suddenly dropped.”  Krishwa

“ Our first rotation was archery and I was not that good, but I tried my best and kept persisting. After a bit of courage I climbed all the way up the steep hill on our long walk.   Ava

“ I faced my fear of heights on the flying fox but I was too scared to go on the Giant Swing. The cake for morning tea was delicious which was plain vanilla with white icing.  The bus ride was quite hard for me as I get motion sickness. In mini golf I got a hole in one on number 13 hole. Cooking our damper I managed to get it golden brown.”   Emily B

“ On the sensory trail I was blindfolded and had to walk along the ropes. We did the flying fox and I was scared at first then I loved it, but I can’t say the same for the Giant Swing. I did it to half way up .
