Principal's Message

Mrs Kaileen Carr

I will be on leave from Tuesday 28 May until Friday 7 June inclusive. Nicole Burden will be relieving for me throughout this time. Martine Schofield will be teaching KB.

A huge thank you to Cheryl Cluff for organising our school athletics carnival last Thursday. It was a wonderful school event. Congratulations to all students who participated throughout the day. Congratulations to our Athletics champions Fiona Radstone, Phoebe Hemming, Millie George, Lilly McDonald, Noah Rinni, Billy Healey, Darcy Watson, Preston Van Der Waarden, and Andy Clarke

National Reconciliation Week -held every year from 27 May to 3 June - is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

May 27 marks the anniversary of the 1967 referendum when Australians voted to remove clauses in the Australian Constitution that discriminated against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  June 3 marks the historic 1992 Mabo decision in which the High Court of Australia recognised native title—the recognition that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights over their lands did survive British colonisation.

The day before National Reconciliation Week, 26 May, is National Sorry Day, which was first held in Sydney in 1998 and is now commemorated nationally to remember and honour the Stolen Generations.

Our school will hold a Reconciliation assembly on Monday at 12.30pm. Students will be involved in classroom activities throughout the week.

On Monday we welcome Josh Reynolds (former Canterbury Bulldogs player) and the Little Wings team to Eglinton. They will be delivering the 'Soaring Towards Zero Bullying' anti bullying program to our Stage 3 students.  The Soaring Towards Zero Bullying is a completely free educational program initiative designed to cultivate kindness, empathy and bullying prevention among students.
