We are thrilled to share the incredible achievements of our rowing squads from the past weekend at Champion Lakes.

Girls Rowing Squad: Record-Breaking Performance at IGSSA Regatta 3

Congratulations to our girls' rowing squad for their exceptional performance at IGSSA Regatta 3 on Saturday May 25th. The team achieved a College best point score of 131, surpassing the previous record of 115 set at Regatta 2. This remarkable accomplishment reflects the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of our athletes. We couldn't be prouder of their efforts and achievements.

Boys Rowing Squad: Impressive Showing at RWA All Schools Regatta 1

On Sunday May 26th, our boys' rowing squad had their first opportunity to race in the Rowing WA All Schools Regatta 1, hosted by Curtin University Boat Club. The team delivered a great performance, securing 12 podium finishes. A special mention goes to Max Watt and Jonah Thompson for their impressive victory in the Schools Boys Open Double Scull race.

Year 8 Rowing Program Registrations Now Open

We are thrilled to announce that registrations for the Year 8 Rowing Program at John XXIII are officially open! This year, we are excited to offer 50 places in the program, and we cannot wait to see our young athletes take to the water.

Program Details:

• Dates: Every Monday and Thursday, starting from Week 5, 12 August and concluding in Week 9 on 12 September.
• Session Times: The program will be comprised of two groups of 25 students, with alternating land sessions held at the College Gym from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, and water sessions at the John XXIII Boat shed at Canning Bridge from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
• Transportation: A dedicated bus service will be provided, departing from the College at 3:30pm and returning at approximately 6:00pm.
• Enrolment Procedure: The 50 places in the program will be filled on a 'first in' basis. To secure your child's spot, please use the link provided below to register their interest in the Year 8 Rowing Program by Friday 28 June. 
• This program is always in high demand, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible.
• Program Cost: The total cost of the Year 8 Rowing Program is $250 per student. This fee covers the expenses related to transportation, coaching, and equipment required for the sessions. 
• We believe this program provides an exceptional opportunity for your child to develop their rowing skills and foster a love for the sport.
• Weather Contingency: In the event of inclement weather, please note that a session may need to be cancelled. Rest assured that we will promptly notify parents and guardians about any schedule changes to ensure the safety of our students.

Registration Deadline and Group Lists: The registration deadline for the Year 8 Rowing Program is Friday 28 June. We will release the group lists for the program on Friday 2 August. If, unfortunately, your child misses out on securing a place in this year's program, we encourage them to try out for the rowing team in Year 9.

Rowing training tops on sale

We have a limited number of blue training tops for sale in the Uniform Shop. Prices are as follows:

• Short-sleeved training tops: $15 each
• Long-sleeved training tops: $20 each

Rowers are able to wear their training tops to land training as an alternative to their school sports polo, so they are a great option to cut down on the weekly washing! They are also great under the zootsuits on the colder mornings. All proceeds from the sales of the tops will go directly to the club as a fundraiser, so even more reason to purchase one…or two.

IGSSA Head of the River Merchandise - Second order cut-off is Friday 28 June 2024

Now is the time to order your Head of the River merchandise (as designed by Hosting School, Perth College) to wear and remember the big race. There are a number of quality items available for you to purchase (including hoodies, tracksuit pants, long-sleeve tops, shorts, visors, and beanies).

Samples (for sizing) will be available for viewing at the regattas.

2024 Registrations 

For our younger students in Years 7 and 8, it's exciting to note that Learn to Row programs will be held in Semester Two and registrations for those programs will begin from Week 6 this term.

For those in Years 9 to 12, it's not too late to join the John XXIII Rowing Club for the 2024 season. Whether you're new to rowing, interested in becoming a coxswain, or looking to represent our school, we warmly invite you to become part of our rowing community.

Key Rowing Events 2024

*Please note: the girls will compete in only the IGSSA season, except for those invited to join the All Schools Championship campaign. 

2024 will see this as a Saturday Regatta, and more information will be distributed in the next fortnight.

To get this app go to the App Store or Google Play and download Stack Team App onto your mobile device, then follow these simple steps:

1.  Sign-up to Stack Team App. You’ll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
2.  Log-in and search for JTCRC, then request to become a member.

Asthma and Allergies

A reminder that all rowers with asthma or allergies are required to bring their asthma puffers, EpiPens or medication needed to all sessions.
