Welcome back to Term 3!
We hope you’ve all had a safe and restful break, enjoying quality time with family and friends. It’s been wonderful to see our students return to school, eager and engaged in their learning.
We've kicked off the term with some exciting and fun activities. In Week 1, we welcomed Healthy Harold and explored The Inside Story - learning how our bodies work and the choices we can make to stay healthy, like eating nutritious food and getting a good night’s sleep. This engaging incursion links directly to our Integrated Unit on Health, which we’ll be focusing on throughout the term.
In Week 2, we celebrated last term’s achievements with a level party. It was a fantastic afternoon of music, socialising and delicious food. A big thank you to all the families who contributed; there was plenty to enjoy!
Week 2 also brought the arrival of our chicken hatching program, which has been a highlight for students and teachers alike. Watching the eggs hatch and seeing the chicks grow from tired, wet hatchlings into soft, fluffy chicks has been a fascinating experience. This ties in beautifully with our explanation text Writing unit, where students have each written about the life cycle of a chicken. Be sure to check out the photos to meet our adorable new additions!
This term, we’re introducing a new approach to literacy by combining Reading and Writing into a single daily Literacy block. We began this model at the start of the week and have been so impressed with how settled and receptive the students have been. As part of our literacy learning, we’ll be studying the novel Brindabella, engaging in focused grammar lessons, and continuing to practise handwriting.
We’re also excited to let you know that our classrooms will be getting a refresh, with new windows, carpet and paint. During the renovation period, both classes will temporarily move into other spaces. While there may be some minor disruptions, we’re planning carefully to ensure learning continues smoothly, and we’re looking forward to enjoying our updated classrooms once the work is done.
It’s shaping up to be another fantastic term full of learning, growth, and fun!

We will be focusing on the well-known Asian countries of Japan, China and Malaysia.

Japan: Students will explore Japan’s geography. They will learn about the cultural importance of origami and create their own paper artworks, explore famous landmarks, and try some Japanese foods.

We are looking forward to exploring and gaining greater understanding of our neighbours in the world.
Performing Arts
Students will learn to tune, name strings and form chord shapes on the ukulele. They will understand the concept of a simple chord progression using two, three and four chords, and work towards changing freely between chord shapes. With these ukulele skills, students will be able to perform a selection of popular music and attempt song writing with their own lyrical and melodic ideas.

They will learn the techniques used in these sports while working on the strategy and game sense that they can apply across these sports. They will also practise the basketball skills of dribbling, passing and shooting in preparation for Hoop Time.
Science
This term in Science we will focus on the area of Physical Science. We will explore contact and non-contact forces. Students will conduct experiments to examine how friction affects the movement of objects. We will explore simple machines and how they are used in everyday life.

They will use the editing app Snapseed to add text to their favourite photo. The rest of the term will focus on animations using the app Stop Motion Studio. Students will work in pairs to produce a short animation, using a storyboard to plan the characters, setting and create a visual representation of their film sequence.
