KITCHEN AND GARDEN PROGRAM FOR 2025!
Year 6 Garden
Our year 6 crew got busy working in their patches today. They weeded, removed pests, replanted failed or harvested crops then headed out to do some gardening. We had a couple of groups who worked on some FFF propagation and planted some lambs ear, fire pokers, rosemary, sage, violets and iris. We have heaps of goodies growing now in the hot house so keep your eyes out for planting ideas and start your fresh food fair shopping list.
Year 4
Our community art project is going well and our students worked on some design concepts and and images that we can include in our art piece. We hav foraged for natural products such as fakllen leaves and bark. We also painted texture and blended colours that can use used to make collage animals and landscape. On tuesday the weather allowed M19to get out in the garden and get some vital jobs done! We had a team dedicated to fixing some stinky compost bins and we commend them for their resiliance! We fed the worms, harvested jerusulem artichokes, weeded and cleaned up fallen autumn leaves.
Kitchen
For the Grade 4's last session in the kitchen for 2025, we celebrated Indigenous food. It was pretty unanimous that this was the favourite menu of the year! It is surprising how adding some indigenous herbs such as salt bush or lemon myrtle can really lift a dish. The warrigal greens fresh pasta with creamy saltbush sauce was a firm favourite, but every recipe was thoroughly enjoyed and all recipes are below for some school holiday inspiration. I have absolutely loved working with the Grade 4's this semester, and I hope they continue to pop into the kitchen on Tuesdays to share with me how they continue to cook and have fun in the kitchen at home!
