The Most Beautiful Music in the World
A young writer was interviewing a symphony orchestra conductor from Eastern Europe. The maestro had just been released from prison where he had spent years in isolation because of his political views.
After asking several questions on political and economic matters, the reporter turned to music.
“What in your opinion is the most beautiful piece of music ever written?” he asked.
The maestro thought about this for a while without answering. The reporter pressed on:
"While you were held in isolation what did you want most to hear?
What music would have come to mind then as the most beautiful?”
“In the whole world?” asked the maestro.
“In the whole world!” the reporter answered.
“In all the world,” the maestro said with tears in his eyes, “the most beautiful music is the sound of another voice.”
We have the capacity to offer the greatest gift to another through communication – yet so often we throw our words around carelessly and even cruelly. Have you ever stopped to imagine what it would be like to be in the maestro’s situation, be in the shoes of people right now being arrested and thrown into solitary confinement unjustly to suffer in silence and alone. We pray for mercy and justice!
However, we can use our voices to lift up another, to be the voice of love and comfort in the dark, to fight loudly for justice and truth, honouring God with our praise and worship!
James 3:5,6
The tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body.May we choose our words with care!
May the words of my mouth and mediation's of my heart be acceptable in your sight O' God!
Ephesians 4:29
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up.”
Words should encourage and uplift. This verse encourages us to use our words to strengthen others, avoiding harmful or negative speech.
