Students enjoy the rides at the 2025 Fair and Open Day
On Saturday 22 March, Kilvington came alive for a hugely successful Fair and Open Day, filled with energy, laughter and, best of all, a wonderful community spirit.
The school grounds were buzzing with activity, as families enjoyed a fantastic selection of stalls, thrilling rides, and fun-filled activities, all expertly organised by our incredible Parents and Friends Association (PFA).
Our dedicated staff and enthusiastic students also led school tours and proudly showcased key areas of Kilvington including Sport, Science, Food Technology, Community Services, Global Connections/Languages, Robotics and Digital Technologies, Performing Arts and the innovative Year 9 Impact Program.
The alumni stall featured memorabilia from throughout the ages, and the talented Alumni Choir treated guests to a beautiful performance in Dalton Hall.
What a fabulous day it was – thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable occasion!
Now in its fourth year, the 2025 Kilvington Mentor Matching Program attracted an exceptional number of graduates from medicine, psychology, environmental science and conservation, law, engineering, commerce, design, physiology and pharmacology. Our alumni were successfully matched with Year 11 students who had expressed interest in these sectors.
The Kilvington Mentor Matching Program was born out of discussions between former students and the School about how alumni could connect with and add value to our current students' education journey, particularly during the senior years. Student feedback had suggested that there was a knowledge and experience gap between leaving school and beginning tertiary studies or entering the workforce.
Our alumni offer an extraordinary depth of skills and experience that we can draw on to help bridge this gap. They can assist students in leaving Kilvington with a clearer understanding of what to prepare for and greater insight into potential career directions.
The program kicks off with an evening online information session for mentors, followed by three late-afternoon sessions with their mentees, held either online or face-to-face at the School. The program is designed to be flexible, ensuring that both mentors and mentees can maximise its benefits.
Feedback from our mentors about the most valuable aspect of being part of the Mentor Matching Program includes:
We are incredibly grateful to our former students for giving up their time and committing to this program. Our current students relish the opportunity to learn from the many experiences and skills that our mentors generously share.

In March this year, Kilvington officially opened the newly renovated classrooms that were once known as the Middle School. These spaces now link The HIVE and Junior School, and have been given the meaningful name of ‘Barring-buluk’ - ‘many footprints’ in the Boonwurrung language.
To celebrate the occasion, Junior School students, teachers and parents were honoured to welcome Willie Pepper from the Boonwurrung Land and Sea Council to Kilvington. Willie led a powerful Smoking Ceremony and reflected on the significance of the name Barring-buluk, where the footprints of our staff and students will walk now and well into the future.
Midway through Term 2, and after months of dedicated rehearsals, our Senior School students took to the stage to deliver three wonderful performances of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
This joyful adaptation of Roald Dahl’s well-known novel paid tribute to the iconic 1971 film, and featured classic songs such as 'The Candy Man', 'I’ve Got a Golden Ticket' and 'Pure Imagination'.
The audience was delighted by the colourful and playful sets, the costumes and the talent of students from all levels of the Senior School. Congratulations to everyone involved on a truly magical production!
This month, Kilvington will commence the exciting redevelopment of the school canteen facilities. The new canteen and seating area will be located in the former science labs overlooking The Green. The space will provide a modern, multipurpose facility for students and staff and will also be available for use by the wider school community, as well as for operating the Secondhand Uniform Shop (SHUS).
