I would like to begin by welcoming all those within the LSC community back to the college for semester two. I hope everyone has taken the opportunity over the term break to take the time to switch off from whatever stresses may be present, make time for themselves and their families, and are returning with renewed enthusiasm.
At the start of the term, we were able to celebrate and acknowledge the wonderful efforts of those within the junior school. I had the please of attending both the year 7 and year 8 end of semester assemblies. At the assembly’s students were acknowledged for their participation in school events, their engagement within the curriculum, their leadership around the college, and for academic excellence. There were over 300 acknowledgements of achievements throughout the semester across the two assemblies, which highlight the amazing efforts our student have put into the first half of the year. Congratulations once again to all those who received awards!
As we begin a new semester it is important that we reflect upon the efforts of semester 1 and take the opportunity to look for areas in which we can continue to build upon our achievements. I strongly encourage all families, if not already, to sit down with your child and look through their semester 1 report that can be located on compass. Discuss with them their successes and reflect upon areas in which you feel they can improve.
Term three is a shorter term with a packed events calendar! In week four we are acknowledging Bullying No Way the National week of action against bullying which will be supported by student assemblies and presentations. In week five we have book week which is always a favourite amongst staff and students for dressing up. In week six we have the year nine gold coast camp. Throughout the term we have subject selections, course counselling and information evenings for students in years eight to eleven. As well as many sporting events, interschools sports, and the multicultural concert.
On Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th of August in week four the college will be hosting their semester two parent teacher conferences. This year again we will be running an onsite and online version of the day. Please pay attention to information posted on compass for detail about the evenings.
