Kinder/Year 1

100 Days of School Preparation
Just a reminder that a note with a t-shirt was sent home earlier this week to all children in K/1. The note details the three things that need to be completed to help us celebrate our AMAZING 100 days of learning celebration next term. If you did not receive this note and shirt, or if you have any questions, please drop us a line.
2D Shape Learning
K/1 students have been diving deep into 2D shapes in Maths! They've been busy creating tessellating patterns and uncovering the secrets of symmetry.
Through manipulating shapes, they're learning a crucial concept: a shape remains the same no matter its size, how it's turned, or where it's placed. This practical exploration is building their two-dimensional spatial skills, helping them identify, rotate, orient, and visualise shapes with ease.
Creating tessellations shows them firsthand how shapes connect, slide, and rotate without leaving any gaps. This foundational understanding seamlessly connects to their upcoming work with 3D objects and their surfaces in Term 3.
Check out these awesome photos from Seesaw, our learning platform! Seesaw allows us to get highly creative with assignments. Students use this technology to demonstrate their knowledge, whether it's snapping pictures of their work, recording their spoken answers, or even manipulating shapes directly on the screen. For these particular activities, we challenged ourselves to design with polygons, then used mirrors to hunt for those perfect lines of symmetry. We also had an absolute blast creating some truly beautiful tessellations!
MAE-2DS-01
A student sorts, describes, names and makes two-dimensional shapes, including triangles, circles, squares and rectangles.
MA1-2DS-01
A student recognises, describes and represents shapes including quadrilaterals and other common polygons.
