This special feast, also known as Corpus Christi, celebrates the gift of the Eucharist—when we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus at Mass. It reminds us of the Last Supper, where Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples and asked us to do the same in memory of him. The feast is a time to reflect on how the Eucharist strengthens our relationship with God and with one another in the community of the Church.
It is very appropriate for many of the Year Four students to receive their First Holy Communion this weekend on The Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.
You are most welcome to gather in the Church for the First Holy Communion Masses this Saturday 21st June at 6.00 pm or Sunday 22nd at 10.30 am.
Please pray for the children receiving their First Holy Communion.
The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Mass and collection for Vinnies
Please remember to send along non perishable food items or toiletries to school for our annual Vinnies collection.
Our donations will be presented to Vinnies volunteers at the Feast of the Sacred Heart Mass on Friday 27 June at 10.00 am in the Church.
On Friday 25th July we will celebrate Grandparents and Special Friends Day at school.
Part of the celebration will include a prayer liturgy in the Church during the afternoon. We warmly invite families to share a photo of your child with their grandparents or special friends to be included in a Google Slide presentation shown during the liturgy. This is entirely optional, as we understand and respect the unique circumstances of each family. Please email photos to rhickey@smashburton.catholic.edu.au
Pope Leo's prayer intention for June is asking for us to pray that the world might grow in compassion. This is very fitting as June is the month we honour the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Please try to find some quiet time in your busy day to pray for Pope Leo's Prayer Intention for the month of June. Thank you.
That the world might grow in compassion
Let us pray that each one of us might find consolation
in a personal relationship with Jesus, and from his Heart,
learn to have compassion on the world.
Amen
